Hiroyuki Kobayashi on upping the ante in Devil May Cry 4 |
Ó
Granted, this isn't the first time that Hiroyuki Kobayashi has been interviewed regarding Devil May Cry 4 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) - he's been asked about everything from Nero to Dante to the Devil May Cry 4cross-platform move. This time, however, Kobayashi talked about something different: his personal drive for raising the bar in Devil May Cry 4. While Kobayashi-san didn't work on Devil May Cry 3, he wants Devil May Cry 4 to turn out even better.
According to Kobayashi, he isn't concerned with how Devil May Cry 4 will compete with other action titles; rather his focus is on how it will surpass its predecessors. As Mr. Kobayashi put it:
am not really pressurized or motivated by competing titles. I worked on the original Devil May Cry, so my main aim is to beat the original games, and to refresh Devil May Cry as a series.

Don't worry about other action titles. Worry about making the best DMC game, and that will take care of the rest.
Agreed. Sounds a bit like the "man in the mirror" approach.
