Hermen Hulst: Guerrilla Games placing finishing touches on Killzone 2 |

Guerrilla Games had a rather ambitious vision for the sequel to their 2004 PS2 title, Killzone. In an effort to outdo its previous FPS game, the devs put in a lot of hard work during the three years that they've been developing the new title. Hermen Hulst, managing director of the company, explained in a video interview how Killzone 2 was currently coming along and how they planned to achieve their goals upon its release. As Hulst puts it, the sequel will bring the fight straight into the lion's den as the protagonists fight it out against the Helghasts on their home planet of Helghan. Hulst also mentioned that PS3 allowed them to create a totally immersive, action-packed game that they envisioned Killzone 2 to be.
The developers wanted to live up to the expectations set out by the first Killzone 2 trailer shown at E3 2005. Hulst admitted that to do this they would have to put in a lot of polish to get all the proper mechanics into the game to give it that immersive FPS quality that they were aiming for.
Killzone 2 is set to be released on the PlayStation 3 for February 2009. You can check out Hulst's full interview by clicking on the Via link we've provided below. Hopefully, this won't be the last we'll hear from the game until it's launch. We'll be sure to keep an eye out for any new updates regarding the game as we get them.

Killzone 2, regardless of what any crappy reviewers will say, will be bought by me. I'm a huge fan of the series, and I honestly think it'll blow even COD4 away. COD4 wasn't even that great of a game.

Well as you said, I'll buy Killzone 2, I actually liked the first one, regardless of the harsh reviews everyone gave it. But I can't say X game will be better than Y game, until I've tried them both, and as much as I agree with your post.. I disagree when you call out that COD4 wasn't that great of a game. It was a great game, if not the greatest in COD and FPS history, period.
Until I can test Killzone 2, COD4 remains at the top of my FPS list... Until then, who knows.

I really enjoyed COD4's campaign, especially the Chernobyl section, but the multiplayer is what I was insanely addicted to in the first few weeks. After about 3 weeks though, I really started to get bored of the game. It was just the same old smack-talking, egotistical 12-year olds rambling on and on and about they pwn everything, when anyone could beat them.
The day the map pack got released, I ran home from school to purchase + download it, but somehow I was disappointed. But, to this day, I still play private games with friends, such as Zombie Game and "Dodgeball". I really love the concept of the customization you get with private matches.
I guess I only speak so harshly of COD4 because of the induced boredom I had.
