Here's how to unlock Akuma and Gouken on Street Fighter IV |
Ó
Instead of just entering some code on a ? box on the character select screen, Capcom decides to give you a harder time to extend the Street Fighter IV lifespan on your gaming priorities. IT's kinda like the way you unlock Tekken characters, only much more demanding.
Unlocking Akuma
- Unlock Cammy, Fei Long, Dan, Sakura, Rose, and Gen.
- Pick a character you have already used to beat Arcade Mode.
- Win all your matches without continuing and without losing any rounds before fighting with Seth.
- You need to get at least one "perfect" win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing.
- 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more
- 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more
- 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more
- 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more
- This includes the last battle against Seth
Unlocking Gouken
- Complete Arcade Mode playing as Akuma and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending.
- Then, unlock Gouken as an opponent, and defeat him.
- Play using a character you're beaten the game with
- Do not lose a match and continue
- Don't even lose around. So just go with one round matches
- Achieve certain number (or more) of "Perfect" rounds. The number of Perfect Wins you need to achieve are:If you play on
- If you play on 1 round match: 1 time or more
- If you play on 3 round match: 2 times or more
- If you play on 5 round match: 3 times or more
- If you play on 7 round match: 4 times or more
- Achieve a certain number (or more) of Super Combo -OR- Ultra Combo Finishes. Super and Ultra finishes both count toward this number. The number of super/ultra finishes you need to achieve are:
- 1 round match: 3 times or more
- 3 round match: 5 times or more
- 5 round match: 7 times or more
- 7 round match: 9 times or more
- Achieve certain number (or more) of First Attack (this means you must
score the first strike in a match--the screen gives you the "First
Attack" message, and you can mostly do this without even noticing):

This can be done on any difficulty level. I didn't know exactly how to unlock them, so I just got 4 perfects in a row and then 4 ultra finishes and made it to him. Good to know the specifics.
This article is needlessly complicated.
I wish I knew this earlier last week when I was goin' crazy trying to unlock Gouken. Oh well lol
already has this information in a faq, although the faq explains to unlock Gouken, one must beat the game once with Akuma, then beat it again with Akuma getting 2 perfects, 2 ultra finishes, and no continues.
the hardcore SF fans had gouken and akuma unlocked a long time ago thanks to sites like shoryuken.com (forums)
I know hoooow to unlock Gouken. I just haven't managed it yet :(
No offense Capcom, but that is very tedious and stupid. Why the hell can't you make them either unlock either winning arcade many times with every character or just make already in the character selection from start. Man. >_
The winning many times way you suggested is far more tedious and stupidly easy, and this method at least goes some way to rewarding more skilled players for their efforts which is personally how I feel unlockables should be.
Whoa man you are like so hardcore for pointing that out. Take your sorry ass back to shoryuken.com
