Heavy Rain to be "censored" in different regions, due to interactive sex scene?

Heavy Rain is apparently ready to douse us with some heavy downpour of surprises as executive producersGuillaume de Fondaumiere kinda confirmed that the game will be censored in different regions. But why, you ask? Why, because of the interactive, motion captured sex scene, that's why!

Rumors of this scene first came out in the Italian PS blog, UPSBlogit, sometime in late August. No one from Quantic Dream really bothered to clarify or address it - blatantly or otherwise - until de Fondaumiere, that is. In a video interview, he said,

We wanted to have pretty much the same game everywhere, be it in Europe, in the United States, or in Japan, of course, with slight adaptations, for instance, the Japanese version. But I don't think the changes we made will make a big difference, so that those are real modular things. We felt the need to adapt the content to the culture.

Check out the interview below. He also provides a look at two new scenes never before seen by the public:

» uhhhh

The article's all about an interactive sex scene, and then I start watching the video and the guy says, "the first scene I would like to show you is called father and son." I know Heavy Rain's supposed to have many different paths you can take the story along, but please tell me the father and son section of the game has nothing to do with an interactive sex scene.

» LOL

this game is goning to be EPIC just like Fahrenheit/ndigo Prophecy back in 2005.

it had sex scene too(not very explicit though) but removed from some version too so it could avoid an (18+) rating,

» Do they remove sex scenes from movies in these regions too?

If they don't remove sex scenes in movies in these regions, I wonder why they do it for games. These games should be rated adult only instead of butchering the intentions of the experience.

» going back to movie games?

I think we tried this with the SegaCD and Other Sega systems and all Movie type games failed =/

I don't see many people playing this game, Well IDK their has been a big change in the way people think, mostly for the worse, As they keep pumping out ***** systems and games and for some Odd reason People buy them?

We need to take a stand People....Fight for the right to have GOOD systems and Good games, ....... Owell don't Say i did not try to help ;)

» Why is it even in there!

That's just sick.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against sexual scenes in games. When they're appropriate. They have their place, to emphasise a relationship between 2 characters. If it can simply be removed and he can say "I don't think it will make a difference" though, then it's unnecessary and shouldn't be in. They're putting it in, just to have sex in the game.

Maybe he's only saying that just so that people don't get discourage and not buy their product. They had a sex scene in Indigo Prophecy and it made me feel a really strong connection between my character and his female counter part. Beleive me. These guys know what they're doing.

» ^This

I'd rather have the game 18+ than having those stupid blurs on screen. Seriously 18+ and 17+ people basically think that same. I don't get why they have to rate the game 18+.

» am i the only one

whos astounded that they actually used motion capture for the sex scene

by Bountyhunter53 - 2009-10-21 06:57
» Hmm...

I think the dev's are sending us a message. I think they just said "I need to get laid, HELP ME!" or they are a bit err..... wierd..... As the Japanese would say "HENTAI"

» sure does!

by Koolaidsred1 - 2009-10-21 16:29
» ..,.

The U.S version is the one without the sex most likely. They did this with Fahrenheit on the ps2. It had no sex scene, but the European version called Indigo Prophecy had a sex scene in it towards the end.

» In Japan, there was a comic book/manga called "The Rapeman"

So I don't think the sex part is a problem for the Japanese release.

» question is......

which region is the complete uncensored one, that's the one i'm importing.
