Heavy Rain: PS3 Exclusive?

Heavy Rain

If anything else stole the show during E3, it's Heavy Rain: The Casting. The video features a woman auditioning for a part in a video game called Heavy Rain. During the course of the audition we see how a seemingly calm, rational woman morphed into a psycho chic ready to pull the trigger because she was cheated on by her lover.

Even after E3, Heavy Rain - from makers of Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Indigo Prophecy, Quantic Dream - is still making a lot of buzz among gamers anticipating its release. If you remember, the developers in an interview once said that they are developing a game for three different platforms, but not yet saying that it is Heavy Rain. But after this interview, I think we can safely say that it is.

And recently Eric wrote to us here in QJ, when he came across a very interesting post in Game Spot Forums, with this scan:

Heavy Rain Scan

Nothing official yet, but like Eric, maybe most of you now are forming conclusions that it could be a PS3 exclusive. I guess we all just have to wait for official news from Quantic Dreams now won't we?

» why the retardedness?

Why is it every moron from dumb@$$ville jumps on the "Hey look I got the first post"??? It's stupid and lame, get off yourself.

ALso... If sony's publishing it... perhaps it's for the PS3, PSP and ummm PS2? LOL.

by Rottie - 2006-06-28 03:28
» Already confirmed its not exclusive.

In an interview with IGN the developers said its being worked on for the 360, PS3 and PC.

» what 3 said

The makers of Heavy Rain already demolished that rumor weeks ago in interviews. The only reason they were showing in the ps3 area was because Sony asked them to show what they had been working on with facial expressions.

Did you even read the article? Probably not, but that's to be expected.

It's mentioned that developer announced SOME game for 3 platforms.

He didn't exactly state that it's Heavy Rain, and the case here isn't even that, cause it would be just a dumb rumor.

What's important, is that according to that small screen the game is being published by SONY.

Have you ever seen a game published by SONY on SEGA, M$, or Nintendo's platform? No.

So if it isn't just wishful guessing made by the magazine, then Heavy Rain will be PS3 exclusive.

Final Fantasy wasn't published by SONY :|, you're a *****ing joke, there should be ignore list, cause I don't want to see your comments.

» That was very idiotic...

Final Fantasy was published by Sony? Thats a new one... you probably would have been better off using Spiderman: The Movie as an example.

"Sony saw our work-in-progress and asked us for the permission to show it in its booth at E3 to show what could be done in matter of virtual actors on a PlayStation 3. "

"IGN: There has been a lot of speculation since E3 that Heavy Rain will go "PS3 only" because of where it was showed. Any truth to that or can we expect to see it on multiple systems?

Fondaumière: We hear and read a lot of things lately on Heavy Rain. All I can say is: not everything is true and nothing is written in stone as we speak. For now, Quantic Dream is working on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms."

sounds like $ony threw down some cash to beef out its portfolio...

» i piss on this game

The whole idea around this game is to portray human emotions rather then action and violence. as of yet there is no announcement for urine physics so i say screw it!!! This game is going to be nothing more then a glorified tech demo like the rest of the early PS3 titles. If i wanted to watch human emotions and listen to endless pointless and painful dialog i would go watch oprah.

Just because Quantum Dream is working on all 3 platoforms, does not automatically make this game a non-exclusive...And personally, I thought the game looked really good, not "HOLY CRAP" good, but really good. The mouth syncs were a little off, but that was explained by the developers...

by KnowLedge - 2006-06-28 12:16
» Oh yeah, seems like SONY went shopping

That's it. They probably were talking with companies whilst making that interview, now the fresh magazine might a confirmation, that SONY bought the rights for this game.

So another lovely exclusive title for PS3, altought no-one knows what this game is about, if I'm supposed to look at this not so good looking woman just talking, then I think I'll pass.

» To those saying it'll be crap

Quantic Dream are known for creating games that are more artistic or cinematic than most other games. Their previous games, Omikron and Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy for the US), were great games and are hailed by the games press. If you haven't played one of those games, you should go play them.

While the video they have shown for this had a few flaws, I'll be waiting for this one eagerly, and if I have to buy a PS3 to play it, then so be it.

by zanz - 2006-06-28 17:13
» "are hailed by the games press"

becuase i listen to that bs... i know what i like and other people's ***** opinions aren't worth the air it is to say or the muscle it is to type or write...

by R Kelly - 2006-06-29 01:18
» Omikron?? that game sucks!

your a dip shiit. omikron was buggy, boring, and repetitive. it was just an excuse to explore the idea of 3d exploration of large environments. The game press(of which i am a member) is full of shiit... especially ign... they like any game that the developers give them money for a good review.

» Indigo Prophecy...

....kicked ass. I don't know about Omikron, but Indigo Prophecy was probably the most cinematic and intriguing game I've ever played. the ending was a little "huh?" in some regards, but overall, the game was awesome. I always told my friends how I though Indigo could be better if it had more powerful hardware to render better facial expressions and emotion from the "actors." apparently, the developers were thinking the same thing, as Heavy Rain promises to have that emotional oomph that IP didn't have due to technical limitations. no one knows what this game is going to be about, as the trailer was just something that was written on the fly to show a character going through a various number of emotional states (from nervousness, to full on anger). it is indeed a tech demo, but I can't help but see a game on par with Indigo Prophecy, but using their remarkable graphics engine. for that alone, I'm excited about this game.
