David Cage, the brains behind the heavily-anticipated Heavy Rain, has shed some light on developer Quantic Dream's DLC plans.

One of the downloadable Chronicles will reportedly let players step into the shoes of the Origami Killer. Cage recently explained to gameblog.fr that this particular Chronicle will let players uncover the Origami Killer became a murderer.

Another Chronicle focuses on FBI profiler Norman Jayden and deals with where and how he got his scar and how he became addicted to the prescription drug Triptocaine.

This brings the Chronicle count to three, including the one starring Madison Paige which comes bundled with the game's special edition. Nothing has been said so far regarding similar Chronicles for the game's two other characters. Each downloadable Chronicle will be roughly an hour long and will serve as prequels to the characters in Heavy Rain.

I wonder how they'll handle the killer's DLC for those who haven't finished the main game yet.

Since this is a story driven game... allowing in depth peeks at different characters may spoil it. I'd imagine they NOT allow you to purchase the DLC until you completed certain parts of the main game. That way, what you would find out from the DLC(relating to the main game) would have already been revealed in the main plot. This is all assuming the chronicles will tie into the main story's events, which would be SO MUCH better than just a separate and completely disconnected series of events.

Though this sounds rather... anti-marketing strategy... as it would surely hinder DLC sales and may deprive them of impulse purchases.

So, they've already come up with possible DLC BEFORE the game's launch?

Developers these days... Sigh...

Agreed. I can see adding on to a finished game, and then charging a modest fee (that's a MODEST fee, which does not equate to 1/5 of the price of the new game for an extra 1/15 of game). But it seems like devs are all making the dlc before the game is even finished.

I hate dlc and I almost never buy it, the exception being when it's a legitimate add-on (not something they held back from the original game) and when there's enough content to be worth the price. The level packs in Little Big Planet are a good example of good dlc, and I like to buy songs for Rock Band. Other than that, it's mostly just a dirty trick devs use to squeeze extra money out of us.

I only wish it wasn't dlc and instead originally in the game to unlock after beating the other stories or something.
