Guile - Image 1  Guile's had a tough week. After Capcom released concept art for the HD version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, fans reacted rather negatively, and it caught the development team's attention.

Producer Rey Jimenez acknowledged that the fan response wasn't what they would have wanted, but said it was a good thing because the developers can address it before the title launches in XBLA and PSN.

"Well it was a pretty rough week for Guile. Reaction to his new artwork ranged pretty widely. Thanks for all the feedback," says Jimenez. "We are definitely listening. I won't go into specifics, but we are considering revising some of his look based on the reactions I've been reading on the blog and many of the boards I keep up with."

Although it would be unlikely that all of the suggestions made will be reflected in Guile's final model for the game, careful consideration has been made and improvements are said to be in progress. We're hoping for the best when this old-school brawler visits us again.

What was wrong with Guile??

The pic of Guile in the blue tank isn't too good, but those weren't what I saw a few weeks back. What were people complaining about? Anyways, I just hope all the characters look close to those in the Street Fighter II Animated Movie.

Guile?

It has been a long time since I have had interest in street fighter (that gawd awful alpha series ruined it for me), but I am excited to see a beautiful new HD return of *Super Street Fighter II Turbo* one of the best fighting games of all time, and the first to introduce my own favorite character, Cammy White. But that said, I am not sure what to think about these new HD Guile sprites. I thought the other characters looked fine, but now that I stop and look, Guile really does look goofy. He shouldnt be so rediculously bulky. Sure he was always muscular, but his arms and legs always seemed 'long and slender'. These pictures make him look very rounded, which really doesnt fit with his fighting style. He is a very acrobatic fighter. I find it hard to imagine him doing all those quick flips and twists with such a rounded body.

Looks

That seems to be one point, He ssems to have bigger arms than torso, the concept is good, but the sprites seems ackward. They might rework the picture to have him as a muscular figure, but with normal proportions.

I'll just point out...

That they are not complaining about the picture which QJ has posted for this article (which is very crappy) You have to go to the 1up article, then to the original post on the capcom BBS to see the sprites in question... Basically they were done by a different guy then akuma and ken and the quality is a little different or "worse" and people are complaining about the mismatch.... Also some basic stuff like his camo pattern changing from frame to frame...which is kinda amateurish....

dangggg

i think he looks dead sexy, whats everyone talking about

hum...

Well, his biceps are about 12 time bigger than his head. His arm is bigger than his upper body. His fist is also bigger than his head, how does he pick his nose?? The picture just need some "balancing" the proportions are all wrong.

Update

We've been as curious as everyone as to what exactly happened. We haven't confirmed it, but a source says that fans whined that Guile looked like Johnny Bravo in a tanktop and camo pants. We'd like to remind everyone that our source may very well have been pulling our leg, so don't rake it as gospel truth. In any case, we'll run an update post as soon as we get some solid facts.

Not nuts

I was a die hard SF fan during the 90's, but that awful alpha series made me stop playing Capcom titles. Alpha was all about horrible game balance, lame characters, and gay cartoony looking sprites. Alpha 1 was so full of garbage characters that I never saw anyone play ANYTHING other then Ken or Ryu. Alpha 2 added more good characters, which helped, but the game was still riddled with cheap imbalanced gameplay. Alpha 3 was the stake in the heart. My friends pushed for me to try it. I was promised that A3 brought back all the good SF characters and it was finally a good game again, but it wasnt. Tons of characters, sure, but the gameplay was abysmal. SF is all about attacks and counters. You throw a move at me, and I can counter it by using the right attack at the right moment. Kinda like paper-rock-scissors. Alpha trashed this concept, creating horrible imbalances. Some character's moves could barely counter anything, while others like Charlie couldnt be countered at all. The truth behind Alpha, is that only a couple characters were ever truely balanced, and that included Ken and Ryu, which were the only characters played 90% of the time. And I won't even go into the 'Gay-isms' here.

Why don't you...

Go to the original post on the BBS and see....has nothing to do with johnny bravo and everything to do with slightly worse quality in the art then the previous sprites....people are just whining about inconsistencies....
