Hayashi: Having PS Home support on Ninja Gaiden would mean delay

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Image 1Yosuke Hayashi certainly isn't wasting any time getting gamers worked up for the June 26 release of Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden Sigma. After our coverage of his interview with GamesRadar, we've picked up yet another interview of the Ninja Gaiden director, this time with GamePro.

One of the more basic questions, of course, when dealing with a PS3 title, would be the graphics. To this, Hayashi confidently says,

In order to have the best experience for both people who are new to the series as well as those who've enjoyed it since the beginning, we want to produce an experience that looks totally new and fresh. One of the best ways to do that was to have a game that runs at 1080p with a constant 60 fps, and utilizes real-time shadowing. No other game has accomplished all of three of these goals at once.


Working with the PS3, Hayashi reveals, cannot necessarily be answered categorically. Rather, it's not a matter of whether it was difficult or not. "If you're going to do a project, you have to do the best you can." And that's a pretty optimistic answer, really.

Anyway, Hayashi also did talk about a lot of other interesting bits regarding the game, like the number of difficulty levels. Like Ninja Gaiden Black, it will be sporting five levels. You will also find here a more unorthodox weapon in the form of a dual sword. He describes it as "something new and flashy, and has a different gameplay mechanic but is close enough to the original that people can easily pick it up."

We're pretty sure you're also itching to know more about the online features in the game. At this point, Team Ninja is working on having the "karma ranking". Basically, this will be like a leader board for your score, much similar to the Xbox version. What's different with the PS3 version, though, is that it will be made to include more detailed stats on your gameplay.

As for supporting PlayStation Home? "We'd love to implement compatibility but unfortunately, Sony hasn't provided any of the tools needed to implement it." Well, if you guys would really love to see Ninja Gaiden Sigma's online features support PlayStation Home, Team Ninja could actually accommodate you with that. The thing is, you'd have to wait a little longer for it to come out. And as Hayashi is looking at things now, nobody would really want to have the release date moved back even further.

"I hope Sony gets on the ball with giving the developers the tools they need to implement Home..." Yeah, we're hoping for the same thing, too.

I don't care about this game I can play the XBOX version in 1080p on my 360.

.the texture quality is not the same as if the game was optimized for 1080p. Thats like saying that an upscaled dvd movie looks as good as a Blu-ray movie.

Virtua Tennis 3 is native 1080p on the 360 just like the PS3. If this game was ever brought to the 360, it would be just like the PS3 version, i.e. 1080p, 60fps, self shadowing.



Although having played the NG games on the XBox, I'm more interested in what they'll achieve for NG2. :)
