Have you downloaded Gran Turismo HD yet? |

Ó
We shared with you yesterday our quick impressions of the demo-only Gran Turismo HD and we're pretty sure that made you even more willing about downloading it (albeit the PlayStation Network, for some reasons, wouldn't allow you to). Since we are very big advocates of racing games, if we may reveal, we want to make sure that everyone who has a PS3 will be playing Gran Turismo before the day ends. If the review didn't quite do it for you maybe the screenshots will finally do!
On a more personal note, we really felt sad when developer Polyphony Digital decided not to have a full, boxed title. It was even sadder when creator Kazunori Yamauchi announced it himself early this month. We guess we will never know for certain what really happened behind their closed doors...
Oh heck! These are all water under the bridge now. And besides, Gran Turismo 5 will soon be careening to our PS3 units anyway. We guess we will just have to enjoy this rather fascinating demo.

Read benchmarks before you start to say things you know nothing about. BTW my web server runs faster on the PS3 then on a 2.0GHZ intel PC. So much for a 5 year old computer running faster.

I constantly check and find that there "error when downloading..." all the freaking time.
It is now at 60%. hopefully, it will finish.
I want to see it for myself how good the game is at 1080i.
Does it even do 1080p?
Until then

When you say benchmarks, what are the benchmarks measuring exactly? Floating-point performance, application performance, general performance? Do you have any links?
Yes the PS3 should offer excellent performance for floating-point dependant applications (such as movie/mp3 encoding), but what about it's performance as a linux computer in general. I'm sorry but I have to agree with Devise here. I'm not sure about 5 years (I don't have the figures to compare), but just the same I want today's performance, not the performance of an older PC with little memory.
Going back to the original post, it's laughable that some still buy into the marketing hype that the PS3 is a super computer.

Will people PLEASE STOP calling other gamers idiots whilst saying YOUR instead of YOU'RE or even YOU ARE. It only makes the accuser look like an idiot instead!
I repeat, it's YOU'RE not YOUR.

Yes, I own a PS3, yes I waited in line for it, yes I have GT:HD, and it's half the reason I bought this console. I'm happy, are you?

Besides, no-one is forcing you to read this, you could easily ignore all the comments sections and the forums and just read the news.
So get off your high horse and stop being such a hypocrite.

So when Sony completes some of the March updates you will see more of the abilites of Cell come alive!
And all you Xbots don't waste your time trying to convince us that Sony and the PS3 suck! Because if we're lucky enough to have one in our posession we KNOW the TRUTH first hand! We get to handle, touch, and sense it's power right in front of our faces. And we during our launch are not having near the problems that the people with X360's went through at their launch.
No flaming power cord recalls, no Black Screens of Death, no complete lockups, no heat so bad you can cook eggs and bacon on it. No power brick, you could kill a man with. No green leftover crap from the 60's. No Microcrap Butterflys. But more exclusives than any other nexgen consoles, More games than any family of consoles for more generations. Now PS3 is on the virge of doing the unheard of and undreamed of run for a 3Peat. That with according to a recent poll, over 60% of all PS2 owners plan on eventually upgrading to the PS3. If this is so, then you can count on 65 million sold from their ranks alone.
Wonder why sales of X360 fell through the floor and will never be the same. Because they have competition and no matter how many reviewers and virial ads Microsoft pays for, they are dead. They were dead the moment they made X360 a closed format. They even deader when they decided to get into the Hardware business, without owning any of their own factories. It's why the reality is that their little game excursion is getting investors pissed off and costing them into the Billions of dollars with no picture of a clear profit way b3yond the horizon.
So in comparison to X360, PS3 really shows it's heretage in a better way. Especially in light of the Pentagon's Cell BDE IBM Super Computer or the Cell BDE Super Computer's each and every "Future Force Warrior" will have on his back!
So yes you Xbots will someday see the light that is the Cell BDE in the Sony PS3!

I mandaged to download my version on the 24th here in Japan. Took me almost an hour to download because of other eager people downloading too. Afterwards the new download took only a few minutes.
The game was ok, but it's not that good looking. Cars are detailed, but there is still a lot of work to do for the handling of the cars and the scenery. It looks very much a port from the GT4 that has been stated before, but with added graphics. Only one track is not that good, so you get bored pretty quick. Nice feature is that you can get better and faster cars that you can try and break records done by other GTHD players. The feeling of speed is not that good on the first car, but gets immediately better with the newer cars. Also removing the driving aids makes the playing and feeling of the car much better. I wish Polyphony will add the damage to cars, because after Motor Storm´s carnage to vehicles you really crave for some feedback in the form of bent metal in other car games.
The only way is up from this demo.

PS3 is not going anywhere in three years. Already Resistance and Motorstorm proves that there is power under the hood of this console. Especially 2007 will be a good year in console gaming for everyone just by looking at the "to be released" games list. There is a bunch of great games coming for the PS3, Wii and Xbox360. From the PS3 list, I can't wait for Lair, Heavenly sword and others... Finally all of the three systems are out and the games can only get better and better. Good times ahead fellow gamers, good times ahead.

It use to be people rely on word of mouth and reviews to help them decide which games to buy, but now we can just download the demo. Games will live and die by the demo. GT4HD wouldn't have made it. I bought GT2 and GT3 and I enjoyed it, but GT4 was a disappointment. Good graphics, but slow. I'm saying the same thing about GT4HD, slow. I'll be testing GT5 when it comes out, and if it suck I just won't buy it.
