So, would you like to read about another Phil Harrison interview? No? Well, the last proved to be informative and quite entertaining. We guess another one wouldn't hurt. And besides, he is sincerely touched by the warm appreciation people have been showing the PS3. As he said to online site GamePro in another interview,It really brought home three years of work. I thought what actually matters is that people are standing out there with money in their pockets with a sense of excitement. Knowing that scene was being replicated in cities all across the country makes it very real.
Aside from being touched by the fans' money welcome, Phil Harrison also tipped his hat off to game developers who were not intimidated by Sony's new system. He added that these developers, especially Insomniac with Resistance: Fall of Man, should be given honorable mentions as well.
Any launch game deserves accolade because working on the bleeding edge of a new system takes guts and determination from the developer. That deserves a lot of credit. As of today, all of the games available for the PS3 show what the system is capable of with tremendous promise.
Lastly, the president of Sony Studios Worldwide couldn't help but throw some comments about the competition. He pointed that the PS3 sold out everywhere, after Sony overcame manufacturing issues. He even added that as of now, the PS3 has sold quickly than the PSOne or PS2.
This isn't a sprint or a three-month race. This is a ten-year marathon. And I know that we have the technology and the architecture to make the PS3 last more than ten years as a software format. We have future-proof technologies that will allow game designers to do amazing things with the system.

As far as the news goes I take anything this person says with a pinch of salt after Motostorm.
And Sony is the fat kid in the back. With the largest and most expensive system that has the least amount of games and arrogance that knows no limit(even surpasing Nintendo's arrogance in the N64 era.) Sony could have easily one if they released a solid system that cost 300 or 400. There literally would not have been much competition but they are doing their best to assure a 3 way tie.
I least I wont have to buy a new System in less than 3 years(Microsoft ).;)
Jert - What the smeg are you talking about! Motorstorm looks amazing, the visuals are well on par with the tech demo shown in 2005 the only diffrence is that now the graphics are viewed from behind the vehicle. I've still yet to see a racing game on any other platform that matches it (and I have an Xbox360 and have borrowed the likes of Pgr3 and downloaded Testdrive).
try 2 years..the 360 is already outdated..that's why they will have to come out with a new one that looks like the PS3 - but still has less functionality...so all those suckers can buy it again. And then the shills will come onto sites to spout and tell everybody how that's such a great deal .. buy it twice.

Remind me again how this was a next gen console when they re-used all the same components from the previous Xbox's they couldn't sell.
Then they want to charge you $100 for a proprietary wireless controller, plus another $30 buck to charge each controller, so there's another $120 bucks if you have your friends over. Then another $40 every year to play on-line .. so now your spending alot more for a 360 than a PS3. Way more and you still have an inferior product than the PS3.
Meanwhile my wireless bluetooth headset for my cellphone doubles for my PS3 chat.
Plus people are just blown away by the blu-ray movies on our system. Digital from end to end is so amazing. 1080p is awesome. THX games and movies anybody? Oh yeah Xbox 1.5 doesn't have that either. DVD's are kind of boring now.
I mean if they had any games that could equal the mayhem of 40 player RFOM - oh wait that proves Sony has a better more capable on-line system and it's free. Why bother with Xbox Dead? Wasn't it down again the other day for hours?
Of course the PS3 is a tiny bit larger because they engineered it properly for air flow - the 360 was re-engineered to please the marketing dolts and that's why they keep failing. Just what you want - the marketing guys engineering your product at the last minute - hey wait a minute that's why we have all those last generation components making up most of the 360.

That's why they recently announced a lower forecast for Xbox sales. Kind of like Vista as well. Little newor innovative ... move along.
Don't you just love that everyone is buying the 60GB version of the PS3 - so much so that the 20GB isn't even being launched in Europe..LOL. PS3 is selling faster than the PS1 or PS2 and now they are only selling the premium package. LOL.

1 - The DVD drive is upgraded from the original xbox (much faster read speeds).
2 - The original xbox did not ever come with a 20gb HDD
3 - The original xbox did not come with component output

1. It doesn't come with a DVD drive? Huh? Wow. 5 years later and they increased the dvd speed. Wow that really makes it next generation. Geez what a revelation. Thanks for setting me clear on that.
2. Your right it came with a 10GB drive.it's been so long since I took it out the closet. But the 20GB in the 360 has to reserve drive space for the compatibility layer so your left with the same amount of free space as the original Xbox. Therefore it's the same as the original. Again wow what an advancement. Another revelation. Keep them coming. Your doing a great job of proving my point.
3. Funny I have component cables for my original Xbox. Oh your right it didn't come in the box - you had to buy their expensive proprietary cable in addition. I remember now they were touting it as being advanced over the PS2 but it just came with composite cables.
4. Proprietary - well maybe you should get a dictionary for that one you seem to need help with many things. I have the PS3 hooked up using an HDMI cable that you can get from a wide range of suppliers..good luck being stuck with your overpriced MS only choices. It's called standards. Can you use your cellphone headset with the 360 or do you need to buy yet another peripheral?

Halo was fabulous - Assault on the control room is still a favorite no matter how many times I've played it. Halo 2 sucked big time. Big time. One of the worst games actually.

Sony did the right thing for customers - MS screwed them. Those kinds of behaviors are why Sony have sold over 200 million playstations while MS is trying to hawk a useless HD-DVD add-on. Not because they ever thought it was in their customers best interest but because they wanted to hurt Sony and blu-ray. If people can't see that then there as blind as the Halo 2 lemmings.

PGR3 was a launch game for the 360, and a completely different type of racer.
Motorstorm looks good, it doesn't match the pre-rendered target trailer from 2005, but it still looks very good, and most importantly, it's fun to play.

at Least PS3 has the option for it unlike 360 which MIGHT require you to re-purchase the console if they ever decide to release one. Until then buying the HD DVD drive is a waste of time.

But it is about to be trumped. first off you talking about read speeds. How about you draw it to a scale. You cant compare a 52x Cd reader with a 10x DVD reader, which is the same as comparing the 360's dvd read speed with the PS3's Blu-ray read speed. And you are intelligent so you cannot ignore the advantage of having a hdmi input. As for the big harddrive... YES YOU DO NEED IT!!! I have a 360 and you have a 360, you wanna know what else we have in common both of our harddrives are full. The PS3 just launched so obviously the HD is not full, but what happens when those game demos start rolling in... and the movie trailers... and my CD's that I burned to the system... and the movies I save to my harddrive... and my picture albums... and my psp future capabilities... and my future media abilities. That stuff adds up. The thing that you really wont understand until you get a PS3 is how much it really becomes the center of your entertainment system (well that and your receiver). I have a nice 1080p monitor, and 6.1 surround sound (which 360 does not support). The PS3 has enough functionality to take advantage of a nice set-up.
As for the games, dont be stupid. If you are a real gamer then you realize that no system has blockbusters within the first couple of months, or did we forget that the 360 didnt launch with Gears, Oblivion and Lost Planet. It takes time.
And Playstation people admit when you are beat. The PS Network cannot touch live. and you wont realize that unless you have Live. That is Microsofts Ace in the hole... $50 a year? I WOULD PAY $100 A YEAR FOR IT!!! its that good.

People get tired of Shooters and want more diversity. For example look at Lost Planet it is a good game, but it gets more attention than it deserves because it is on 360. If it came out on PS it would not get that much attention because there are a million action games. But 360 owners are soo used to FPS that something different like this attracts their attention. When you think about what 360 you love and are looking foward to you think Gears, Halo 3, Halo Wars, BioShock a lot of which are shooters and FPS. When you think PS3 games you think Motorstorm, Metal Gear Solid, FFXIII, GHeavenly Sword, a more mixed breed.

Actually it was four years, and it will only happen this time because XBOX was one year late and the XBOX 360 was one year early. There won't be any more new XBOXes released less than 5 years apart, because being early has worked out pretty good this generation.
The XBOX still has new games coming out, the console just isn't made anymore.
HDMI is worthless. If it's ever required for HD-DVD movies, there will be a cable released for the old version 360. If there is no cable, I really don't care VGA is just as good if not better (more resolution options.)

What are you trying to say here? Blu-ray has a capacity advantage over DVD, but the read speed of the DVD drive in the 360 is about 50% FASTER (on average) than the Blu-ray drive in the PS3.
That's why numerous PS3 devs are giving gamers the option of dumping 4-5GBs of game data onto the PS3's HDD to try to speed up load times.

for example, i wouldn't care if the decent 360 was 0 cheaper. i wouldn't buy it. the only games that i am interested in that are 360 exclusives are gears and lost planet. two games are not worth 0. ps3 has more games i like, so i'll get it. i don't give a flaming f*ck about the extras xbox live has, so free online is nice, not having to get 150+ ft ethernet cables and the fact that all of my close friends have ps3s mean i want one.

It's as next-gen as the PS3, which is why devs working on both consoles say there's very little between them in terms of power (with the PS3 having a slight edge overall). The only real technology improvement over the 360 is the Blu-ray drive in terms of capacity (so multiple disks on the 360 then), but PS3's Blur-ray drive is slower than 360's DVD drive.
Also, calling consoles silly names is both childish and stupid. Would you do that in front of your family and friends, or would you be afraid of looking stupid?
And rushed? Most console launches are rushed by the nature of the product, both in terms of hardware and software, that's just the way it is. The exception in the PS3 because it was delayed by 6-9 months! This is a shame imo, because NVidia finished their GPU WELL before spring 2006, but if they knew the console was to launch at the end of 2006 in the first place, RSX could have been (and should have been) at least twice as powerful as it is today!

Both consoles will be upgraded and improved this gen. That's just the way it is now.
In terms of upgrades, the only significant difference between the 360 and PS3 TODAY is the HD-DVD add-on. But since that is only for movies (and will remain so because like Blu-ray, it is SLOWER than the DVD drive in the 360), I fail to see where you believe 360 owners require noticeably more upgrades than the PS3. Built-in wi-fi is nice, but that's just convenience, not a necessity.

To all the PS3 fan boys on this forum. Check the sales stats, PS3 is not selling, its going down, becoming defunct. Sony shot themselves in the foot with teh price tag. They tried to puh blue ray on the world via PS3 and pushe dteh price up to high so now every serious gamer jumps for the xbox360 and saves a fortune and has a much bigger list fo available (and graphically as good or better games) than teh PS3 and every part time gamer jumps for the Wii and saves a fortune. I'm in the Uk and Ps3 is released in just over 2 weeks and the shops here have signs out saying put down yoru deposite now to get one on launch day. The signs have been out for weeks and every shop I've been in and asked say they have had only one or two people put down deposit. Serves Sony right for shafting Europe on the Ps3 and PSP. rock on xbox360 and Wii
