Half-Life 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3?

Mock Art for Half-Life 2Will an old Valve favorite show up on next gen consoles?

Both EBGames.com and Gamestop.com, which are actually the same after a recent merger, list an Xbox 360 version and a PlayStation 3 version of Half-Life 2 with a release date of 2/5/2007. Yes, that's obviously a bit off, but how often do release dates come and go with no game in sight?

Over at Video Game Generation, the gang even created this mock box art in honor of the rumor.

Of course, there's no confirmation whether or not a game is forthcoming. But sometimes retailers unofficially announce new games long before publishers make it official.

For what it's worth, Half-Life 2 has already been ported to the original Xbox, and retails for $19.99.

We've been hoping for this one awhile, since first reporting on Half-Life 2 and several other rumored games possibly coming to the PS3.  So, keep your fingers crossed.

It's on IGN as well...i've played it so much I think I could only warrant buying it if it comes with the expansion, CS:S and DOD:S

If they charge it for 60$..like other games on the 360..they better have the expansion multiplayer games on it...

HL2:DM

CS:S

DOD:S

and hell..throw in HL:S the first half-life in there...

i'd pay 70 if they do that

i bought that one for first xbox and put it in the 360 and it nothing but lagged. It felt like slow motion, but yeah, i never played it on pc so that would be the reason why i did buy it for the xbox, and i think it would be great for it to come out for the 360 and show the true power. btw, it does say xbox live on there. So i imagine it would probably have multiplayer on it.

Why would anyone care in 2007 that Half-life 2 was comming out? I bought the game in 2005 and grew bored with it before 2005 was over. Mods is where it's at and quite simply Mods are on the PC. A ton of games shown for the 360 and PS3 graphically outclass Half-life 2 in leaps and bounds.

he's right, who gives? hl2 is old news, also, fps games live on pc, no doubt about it... i'd love to see someone with a console trying to play cs:s, it would be the funniest thing to see.

i want news like 'crysis is coming to ps3', now that would be good news! as for hl2, meh. i enjoyed playing it on pc, i play cs:s now and then, but as for buying it new to play on a console i think i'll pass.

Well it seems that the piss poor versions of PC ports are still going to the consoles. The only way they can make PC ports successful is adding keyboard and mouse compatability. Without this, people on Xboxlive or Playstation3 will have no advantage over PC users.

Since the PS3 has a linux OS then mods are definity compatable out of the box. I dont know about the Xbox360 but it seems that Xboxlive will only showcase valve mods like CS:S and DOD:S. Third Party mods will have to get a new SDK to make them compatable with Xbox360, Mods are compatable with Linux anyways so they wont have to do much for it to work on the PS3.

" i'd love to see someone with a console trying to play cs:s, it would be the funniest thing to see."

They have CS on xbox..i've played it...what is so funny about it?

Just because you can't learn to use a thumbstick to aim..doesn't mean its funny...maybe seeing you trying to figure it out makes it funny.

But for those of use who can play with a thumbstick on fps AND a mouse...I don't find it that hillarious.

I like to sit back on my couch and play a fps most of the time...more relaxation...doesn't mean I never play on my comp..seeing as i'm on it right now.

mods for HL2 are NOT compatable with linux "out of the box" many people have expressed their hatred of valve for having virtually NO linux support at all.

not just that, but the game needs to be made for the PS3 not for the Linux thats ON the PS3. homebrew yes, can be made for the linux thats on the PS3, but fullblown games are not made with linux in mind.

# Linux SDK works fine.Vietone 2006-05-29 17:28
The linux SDK works fine. i used it and its no trouble at all. The only problem is people porting old HL mods into steam. HL2 mods are easy.

I thought Gabe Newell didnt like multi-core programming in next-gen consoles.

by that time, the triple episodes will be complete.

That means, either this will include both HL2 and Episodes, or Just Episodes.

and speculating here, will include DoD:S and CS:S

Didn't Sony confirm Bluetooth keyboard and mouse supoprt already? I remember seeing that video about the PS3 layout and under settings there was the properties for keyboard and mouse.
