Guerrilla Games has said that they are working closely with Sony to "aggressively" monitor the online activity of Killzone 3 to get rid of the perpetrators and ensure legitimate players that their online experience won't be ruined, following the recent hacks on the system.
Speaking to CVG, Guerilla producer Steven Ter Heide said that although the recent hacks on the PS3 is a cause of concerened for the team, they are doing their best to combat the cheaters.
"The ability for one person to ruin people's games is not a good prospect obviously, so we're working with Sony on the moderation side," he said.
"We're looking at people misbehaving, being able to follow reports against those so that's all been taken care of - and we're working with Sony to see, even more aggressively, what kind of things are happening.
"But at the same time we have to step up as developers and say, 'OK what are the holes in our game, what is the data, can we analyse that and see where the problems might be?'
"We can look at the leaderboards and the stats that most people are playing with and say, 'This doesn't look right. Can we look into that and see what's happening?' That's the reality now, we have to keep patching the game to make sure we keep getting one over the hackers."
A little sneak peek of the junkyard
In other Killzone 3 news, the team has recently revealed a new DLC map pack for Killzone 3 called Steel Rain. The upcoming content features two brand-new multiplayer maps inspired by locations from the single player campaign, the MP-09 Junkyard "which pitches exoskeletons against jetpacks" and MP-10 Stahl Arms, a "uniquely styled Warzone map featuring intense minigun-versus-sniper-rifle action in the sprawling Stahl Arms facility."
The details for each map are as follows:
- MP-09 JUNKYARD
- Game Type: Guerrilla Warfare (16 players)
- The junkyards of Helghan are a wasteland to some, but a valuable resource to others. In the main junk processing facility of Helghan, ISA and Helghast Forces are clashing in an attempt to salvage vehicles and supplies for their war effort. Jetpacks are the key to taking the high ground, but the huge Exoskeletons can quickly turn the tide of the battle on the ground.
- MP-10 STAHL ARMS
- Game Type: Warzone (24 Players)
- As the Helghast write a new and appalling chapter on humanoid experimentation, beleaguered ISA Forces mount a desperate attack on the notorious Stahl Arms research facility, where they hope to free ISA soldiers who have been taken captive. Stahl’s Helghast forces will stop at nothing to ensure that the ISA attack fails, even if it means exterminating the very prisoners they need for their weapons research.

now killzone is monitored closely to see at first hand the flaws of the game and immediately correct them, so what happens now? they cry about DLC (like if they where obligated to purchase)
If they dont release DLC now everybody cryes about why there is no dlc? your game feels incomplete blablabla
im surprised havent seen anyone YET complaining because sony is monitoring the game complaining about some privacy stuff XD

Company's are getting into the habit of withholding our games to make us purchase more of it. A perfect example is Assassin's Creed 2. The game umps from mission 11 to mission 14. You have to buy missions 12 and 13 if you want to know what happens there (and it's plenty relevant.) That's a dirty practice. I buy the game for 65 and have 1/7 held back that I have to pay for again?
Another dirty thing with DLC is when they charge you to unlock stuff you already have on the disc. Resident Evil had everything on the disc including extras and chapters but you didn't have access to it unless you paid for it again. In buying the game for 65 bucks, I thought I already bought the content on it.
The last DLC problem is when they hold it off of a game for launch day, which is the case here. If you had it ready for launch, it was ready when the game went gold and could have been on the disc.
Gamer's aren't whining about lack of DLC. We're complaining about the nickel and diming.
