Guerilla Games: We totally hear ya, but we can't do a party system for Killzone 2 |

Senior Online Games Designer Erik Boltjes finally responds, and this is what he has to say about Killzone 2 not having a play system with friends:
Hey guys, I totally agree with you; we should have a friends-party system. Unfortunately due to reasons I cannot go into here, it isn't as easy as 'just implement it!' We are however investigating what we can do to resolve this obviously missing functionality. Keep on fragging!
Actually, we totally get that. And although they weren't able to give us a clear answer as to why they cannot just implement the party system, at least they were kind enough to acknowledge that it is a kickass feature that's sorely lacking from the game.
Come on, I don't think not having this system should be enough of a liability to make it undeserving of that perfect ten score, right?

Either way, we can pretty much guarantee that if/when Killzone 3 hits shelves, it will have a lobby/party system.

Though even more than that, I'm still bummed there's no co-op. Wasn't there some talk of a "maybe" patch a while ago? Even from the devs. But that's gone no where.
Oh well, still a great game. Playing it as I type this out.

They have already explained why the single player has slower movement. Realism.
I love the movement, it makes it feel a lot more intense, not being able to kill everything with one flick of your analog just adds to the intensity and forces you into tactics... you know.. like real military...
As for co-op... if you want a co-op game get RE5. You are barking up the wrong tree on this one.
And the party system.... it is true... Killzone could use it.
Perhaps they should focus on actually fixing the instability online. The last update claimed to fix more, but I still get booted VERY frequently.

And as for your Realism excuse, if the control system was supposed to make the game feel realistic, every gun wouldn't move the exact same way.

Straight from Guerilla, thanks.

If they removed that KZ2 would arguably be one of the best shooters ever made.

Nothing serious, but irritating at times.

No, it should actually be longer than 1/4 of a second. Killzone 1 used an instantaneous zoom and it looked ugly because of it. Gamers want smooth transitions now days.

@ Everyone else-
Yes, the controls are based on preference. I personally like them. I agree that the weighted feel should differ from gun to gun (shotguns/smgs should be easier to move around than the IRS Rifle or the LMG), however I still enjoy Killzone 2 online much more than I enjoyed Call of Duty online. The only thing I find that Call of Duty beats Killzone 2 at is its longevity, there just aren't enough ranks and medals to earn to keep me hooked (a good game for this is Metal Gear Online because of all the skills, keeps me hooked 133 hours of gameplay). Call of Duty to reach the highest rank and unlock everything took a very long time, Killzone 2 is really about max 20 hours. If they add more ranks/medals then overall it would TO ME, be a better online experience than Call of Duty 4.
Yes Partying should be implemented, but as they said, they're having a problem doing it, but they're working on it. This is why I love this Guerrilla Games, they actually listen to feedback from their forum and patch frequently to fix these annoyances. I don't know when the last time you guys played, but I haven't experienced input lag since around the second patch.

mr420 is a xbox fanboy, we can see that, but you shouldnt call death on anyone under _any_ circumstances, much less over something as trivial (in general terms) as video gaming.
and im not sure where you're getting your info from, but in the first half of last year, the ps3 was closing the gap on 360 sales, coming as close as 5m behind i think it was. but since the price cut, the 360 has stretched it's lead out to over 8m now. so 360 is not slowing down, that's just wishful thinking.
still, im just happy lots of great games continue to be released for ps3, and 2009 should be a really good year for us. but after 2008, im going to keep my expectations at more realistic levels this time (i really thought 2008 would see ps3 sales rise and 360 sales fall, but i guess ms continues to surprise us all).

So perhaps there could be a party system if they can find out a way to add it, if not something similar to it. :)
But like the whole Co-Op thing, I still think this game deserves the scores. :)
