GRAW 2 - Image 1

Making its rounds on Digg today is word of some new additions to the PS3 version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The additions are making us rather excited for the video game's release, but we're tempering our enthusiasm so we don't get let down if some of it doesn't actually come to fruition.

The main draw behind these additions to the PS3 version of GRAW 2 happen to center around the addition of SIXAXIS support and additional multiplayer goodness in the form of new maps and extra co-op modes. We traced the Digg source back to PlayStation Online, and here's what they said were the key differences for the PS3 version:

SIXAXIS Features
  • Controller features used for Mitchell & Cross-com control
  • SP : Drive the supports (drone, M.U.LE) with the Six Axis functionality
  • SP/MP : Change Mitchell stances with the Six Axis
  • SP : change the Rules of Engagement with the Six Axis
  • Consistency increased between SP & MP: Scope, Movement, AimingÂ…
  • PS3 specifics adaptation of controls: Menus, Shoot buttonÂ…
  • 14 additional maps resulting in a total of 32 MP maps!!!
Multiplayer Additional Information
  • 32 new adversarial multiplayer maps up to 16 players, an expanded arsenal of multinational weapons, character customization options, new optimizing re-spawn system, new female operatives and hundreds of new game mode options are available.
  • 2 new coop modes, “Evasion” and “Exfiltration”, to vary the game experience in multiplayer.
  • 6 missions co-op campaign with a fully immersive experience and storyline. Featuring open-ended play that rewards teamwork as you play with up to sixteen players.
As you can see, it's not exactly the most well-ordered news bit we've found on the internet. The additions are definitely sweet and all, but we're hesitant to make this official until word comes straight from Ubisoft about these features.

For now at least, it seems reasonable to assume that some of this is bound to be part of the future of the PS3 version. We are waiting for Q3 of this year for GRAW 2 to come out for PS3s after all. Hopefully, a future press release will tell us that all of this is real, and not just speculation.

UPDATE:

A big "Thank You" goes out to No name in our comments section! He's pointed out that the original news tidbit posted on PlayStation Online came from Ubisoft's UK features list. As such, we've removed the rumor status of this article, and changed the source link to Ubisoft's webpage.

So I quess it was worth the wait afterall... Now If they improve the graphics and the sound that would be even better!

This

comes like a good surprise! If graphic-wise it keeps 360 quality plus those new coop modes, new maps and a good sixaxis support makes this title looks like an excellent purchase.

About those graphics and sound..

If only the 360 version didnt lag like no tomorrow on Co-op... Fixing that for the PS3 version without ruining the graphics for it will be really difficult for a willing studio, but as we've seen with the splinter cell series coding for PS3 requires time and money they dont want to spend. I so think this game just might suck so much that they felt that was required to make up for it, but honestly i dont think anything can.

THANKS FOR THE C QUALITY PS3 TITLES UBISOFT! jack*sses...

We already knew it...

...PS3 > 360 period

better with 360 controller

just tacked on so people can get that. looks at other ports they all suck compared to the 360 version.

?

sooo..........hmm, u say the xbox360 controller is better?

i dont think so, people are more comfortable with the playstation controllers, they are just better for fps and 3rd-p-shooters when it comes down to it. the 360 controller is not better by any means, its even less control wise since they reversed the position of the left analog stick to be more "trendy" when they came out with it. how gay is taht, and besides, the controller just feels bulky.

hmm

I am guessing you didn't see what Ubisoft did with Vegas and Splinter cell? The PS3 versions are inferior peices of crap with more content... Give me a playable, better game then thrown on maps that will be coming to 360 anyway...

hmm

Yeah, lets keep the Dpad as the primary control method. The PS3 controller is still stuck in 1995. The 360 controller is perfect for all types of games. Its just superior at shooters thanks to the layout. Name another genre that needs suck precise and quick controls?

Bulky? The 360 controller is incredibly balanced, where the PS3 feels so light and flimsy.

by NightVortez - 2007-05-14 17:09
All types of games?

I agree with most of what you said, but the D-pad is total ***** when it comes to fighting games, I can't imagine using it for games like Tekken.

by Justin - 2007-05-15 05:26
To the above basher...

How are you commenting on the PS3 version of Vegas when it isnt even out yet?

Troll.

think first

the d-pad is not the primary control method for many games on the ps3. I actually like the duel shock for fps better. I bought an adapter so I could use my ps2 controller on the xbox, because the xbox controller sucks.
