Grand Theft Auto IV - Image 1Now that more people see video games as mainstream, analysts are looking at how movies have a new serious competitor. Case in point is Janco Partners' Mike Hickey, who believes Grand Theft Auto IV's (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3) wildly anticipated release may allow Rockstar to take the spotlight away from Iron Man's debut on the silver screen.

As Hickey noted, GTA IV's April 29 release is too close for the comfort to Iron Man's May 2 launch. The analyst said his group is expecting the game to dampen the movie's potential, citing Halo 3's spectacular sales on one platform and almost 50% attach rate as a sign of things to come.

Hickey foresees a 25% combined attach rate for Grand Theft Auto IV across the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, which means 5.8 million units sold in the first week alone. In the event of that successful launch, retail sales will reach $360 million.

This game won't effect it. He's *****ing Iron Man! Besides, GTA is the same old rehashed crap anyways. I'd rather go see Iron Man than play a rehashed game that I'll get bored of in 15 minutes.

kinda pathetic to blame a video game for such an unsuccessful *****ty movie...

Iron Man is just another one of these bad "super ultra hero" movies.

I'm tired of Spiderman, Batman & co.... What's next, a movie of the justice league? Captain Planet the movie?

The authors should get their ass up and think of some new ideas.

Bringing a comic to the big screen is not hard and will most likely end in a bad piece of *****. But making a complete new movie, that differs the good directors from the bad.

P.S.: sorry for the bad English, hope you understand what I mean

I agree with u on some of the other movies, but Batman? are u high? It's one of the best super hero movies period. Most of the actors and directors ar Oscar nominated for a reason. Now how do u say ur tired of those superhero movies when GTA4 is the same rehashed stuff with minor differences. You don't make any sense.

» Hmmm

I agree that most of these super hero movies have been crap - Batman was actually awesome but it's an exception when compared to all the other crap.

As for having to see Iron Man when it gets released...screw it! I'll be busy playing some rehashed crap instead thanks (and I guarantee I won't be the only one!).

yeah, ok maybe Batman was actually not that bad, but that's just example in a giant mountain of bad hero movies. If you like such movies still depends on your personal opinion (would be bad if not!). I personally will not throw away my money for a movie where I exactly know what happens at the end and where I know who wins every fight. If you still want to watch these kind of films, well nobody will interfere with that.

» ...okay

That's more like it.I was saying because Christian Bale and Heath Ledger(RIP)(Osc ar Nominated) are some of the best actors in Hollywood. The Dark night will be the best Batman movie period and maybe even the best movie ever.I can understand you if you excluded Batman and talk about the crap super hero movies like Fantastic Four,Spiderman 3,Hulk,etc but Batman is one of the best superhero movies. Also, about the rehash thing I like GTA and I'll be getting GTA4,but it is basically rehashed.
