Gran Turismo 5's and Prologue's online details - Image 1

Polyphony Digital boss and Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi recently spoke with Weekly Famitsu about Gran Turismo 5 and the features he'd like to add before the video game is released in Japan this October. Among the things revealad in the interview, the ones related to PlayStation Home really caught our attention.

According to Yamauchi, there will a PlayStation Home icon on the top menu screen of the game. This will allow players to access a "Gran Turismo World" galaxy within the Home universe. Furthermore, players will also have the option to go back to the top menu screen from Home by clicking on the respective icons.

The producer also discussed the "My Page" feature of Gran Turismo 5. Every time the game starts, this page will pop up and will show different background images such as Tokyo and other cities as well as other indoors and outdoors sceneries. There will also be a Weather Forecast display with the Friends List being developed right now.

While Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will not have downloadable cars and courses, Kazunori Yamauchi shared that the full game will have a total of 40 cars and four courses with eight different layouts. Speaking of Prologue, the producer mentioned that the save data from Prologue can be carried over to Gran Turismo 5.

Furthermore, there will be normal cars and tuned cars, but players cannot tune their own cars in Prologue. Offline mode will consist of 16 cars but it may be slashed to just 12 during online mode. Chat will also be supported and players will have the option to run the game with or without this feature.

There will also be a normal mode which was based on simulation engine. The more exciting part here is the Professional mode in which Polyphony Digital based on actual car behavior and physics. Lastly, the producer shared that he wants to include B-spec mode but it is still not decided at this point.

They already stated that they wanted 700 cars but that it would take to much time to model all of them.

This is pure speculation but my guess is anywhere from 350-450 fully detailed automobiles.
