We finally got what we wanted. The long overdue, overly-anticipated Gran Turismo 5 from Polyphony Digital for the PS3 has already been given an honest-to-goodness release date. Now let's see how it's like to crash and burn in-game.

This rollover footage will put to shame all other crashes you've ever seen in your gaming life. Suddenly we're totally forgiving of Polyphony for taking their sweet time getting this out.

Watch the video at 0:29 you can see the impact from the collision on the drivers side.

True, there is no damage, but kazonori said himself that he hates to see the beauty of the cars destroyed. While I get and mildly agree with his point, damage comes with the territory. Considering that its taken yhis long to get the crashes, I am sure the damage isn't too farr off...maybe in the next version!

There won't be damage if you know how to drive and don't crash into everything.

This IS a racing simulator right? Well last time I remember when you drive into a wall, it might just leave a big a$$ dent.

The graphics look nothing short of amazing but to be honest, I was more impressed with the wrecks in Burnout =/

Still waiting for this game though.

to be honest though burnouts crashes are more like Hollywood [big and bold] which is fine in games like that (e.g. motorstorm etc) but wouldn't really work in games like GT5 (although WRC pushes it) so they adopt a more realistic perspective.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! The NASCAR cars weren't included in the vehicles that get full damage? WTH!!!

lets get somethings clear, eveyone in the gaming industry knows that when it comes to GT series polyphony will take it to the max the only reason why there is only about 200 cars with more body damage (and still not as good as it can be) is because manufactures wont let them. u think they really want poeple to know what happens to their cars when they crash at high speeds? didnt think so. forza can pull out more body damage things because its not really realistic the damage doesnt really reflect on the physical state of the car it just showes damage, like someone said above for burnout its more hollywood type damage. if polyphony was allowed to they will show what a stock ferrari looks like after a hard crash of rollover. but like i said companies dont want to take that chance.

i remember when i used to play GT3 and GT4 in two player mode and took two cars, drove them apart and meet on the other side of the track, just to crash head on... it was so weird, both would be driving at 180 MPH ( i Think ) then they would collide.. it was fun but i just wanted to see damage, which was never there..

Anyone else notice the 'detail' of the underside of the car that flipped?

Theres nothing underneath that car spike because thats what racing cars look like underneath, theyre like that to aid production of downforce underneath the car
