At the recent Tokyo Game Show 2007 in Japan, Polyphony Digital President Kazumori Yamauchi announced the release date and the launch of a free demo of their anticipated speedster Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The full game's Japanese release flies on October 13, 2007 while the demo clocks in on October 20.

The full game will be made available both via download from the Sony PlayStation Store for 3,500 yen (US$ 39) or from brick and mortar retailers for 4,980 yen (US$ 43).

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, as the game suggests, is a prelude to 2008's Gran Turismo 5 release. A peek of GT5 will be made available in the demo for some added oomph.

The demo launch was placed on a latter date to serve as a synergy to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The game will be put on display at the event to drum up support for both the game and the automotive industry.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 are Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive titles. The Gran Turismo franchise has been a Sony console stalwart from the beginning and has sold millions of copies across two consoles and ten years of play.

$39?

How about $19 for a downloadable game and $29 for a blu ray version since this isn't a full game? 60 cars and 5 tracks, no thanks, I'll play Forza 2 or Project Gotham 4 on my 360. This game probably still has that half assed "damage simulator" from GT4 that says 5 second penalty as you bounce off walls with no ill effects. Oh well the sixaxis sucks for racing games anyway as it cramps up my hands.

Sigh...

You know, lately I've had to respect what you're saying more...but this is crap. I agree it should be cheaper (I'm hoping to hold out for the full GT5 unless I need a racing sim fix), but I'm sorry; I had Forza for 2 days and got rid of it...it's trash. PG4 is arcade style racing, nothing akin to Forza or GT5 (though it is quite fun). As for the damage simulator...it "probably" doesn't have anything. It has a newly improved damage and physics system: http://kotaku.com/gaming/gc07/gran-turismo-5-prologue-to-feature-car-damage-improved-ai-better-physics-293208.php http://www.psu.com/GT5-Prologue--Car-Damage-and-AI-News--a1092-p0.php As for the Sixaxis, that sounds like a personal problem to me. I never have issues with it. Hopefully they'll issue some more 3rd party controllers that you end up finding more comfortable.

im not surprised

why did you buy a sony ps3 when you hate everything about it? isnt this what is called hypocrisy? not everyone has 360 and ps3, some only have ps3! here in japan where gt5prologue will be released, the xbox 360 here is not popular and only few people have 360. the ps3 here has multiple times larger userbase than xbox 360, we also get american xbox 360 exclusive games for ps3 like Eternal Sonata. Its clearly stated that there is NO DAMAGE yet but can be implemented in a future update. if the playstation controller cramps up your hand, DONT USE IT? its like saying pinching yourself hurts but you still kept pinching yourself? Mister Common Sense, i personally think you are the dumbest person here in ps3.qj.net and that you dont own any console. you also make the dumbest comments that scares away any potential intelligent comments of other people. your absurd comments also infuriates a lot of ps3 fans that gets their ps3 news here in QJ. you are a pain in the a$$ and i pity your parents. i guess if you dont comment on ps3 section, we ps3 fans will be a lot happier. to QJ, tnx for the gt5p info, i will be buying the boxed copy with dual shock 3 as soon as it comes available to the Japanese public.
