God of War III full of ideas "too ambitious" for previous games

God of War III - Image 1

All the previous God of War games could have been better. I don't think so - I know so. Cecil Kim of SCEA says that God of War III will be full of ideas and features that were "too ambitious" to include in the previous games.

Oh my soon-to-be-slayed gods, if the PS2 wasn't enough to realize their ambitions for the previous games, God of War III will really blow my mind. Says Kim:

Things that I am excited about GOWIII is that we are introducing so many new gameplay mechanics that were initially pitched during the production of God of War I,II. And of course some were designed by talented GOW III level/combat designers.

Some ideas being too ambitious to be executed years ago, only remain in our heads. Now I see Kratos doing things that were from our wishlist, wow, we came a long long way to make this one all come together.

This is what the game making is all about and how it's different from other forms of entertainment I think. It takes years to step closer to make things happen, and when it happens, You get to play it. Looking good is another thing, it needs to play better first, and I am just blown by how much stuff we are packin in the game.

And remember, the last trailer they showed was real-time footage. I am so stoked for this game it's not even funny.

» God Of War III

I know there have been talk of this being the last God Of War game but I hope that this is not the case. To me it feels like the fun is just getting started and what a shame to not continue the reign that this epic genre has to offer. Oh well, maybe someone else will come out with a game that has such creativity in the same sense.

» lol @ "Oh my soon-to-be-slayed gods"

this game is the game that will show the ps3's potential power (maybe, maybe not)

i wonder if there will be any "spin-off" game for GoW. really dont want this gaming franchise to end. this game is total kick-@$$ i love the story and everything. it wwould be a true shame to see the game end off so quickly (ok i know its been 4 years, but you get my points, i hope :P)

» Meh...

The way you chose to write the first two sentences of this article are insulting. EVERY game COULD HAVE been better, but the way you write it makes the previous GOW games sound like steaming piles of *****. Its not like we are talking about FFX-2 here.

I think this is the only game ever, where i have repeatedly....and i mean repeeeeeatedly watched the official trailer over and over again. Damn Sony is a tease. @ all. We will find a way to keep Kratos alive forever if this truly is to be the last in the series.

» Sorry

but you're completely missing the point of what he has said. He's emphasising the what Kim said, that there was plenty more to do, and that people wanted to do, but could not because of the inferior technology. In no way does he make the previous GOWs sound like 'steaming piles of *****'.

» cool

Looking forward to it. I've been playing God of War - Chains of Olympus and it still impresses me. I mean, God of War 1 and 2 on the PS2 are great, but CoO is on a handheld machine. Gone be the days of a cheaply made 2D portable game that only shares the name and general theme of the home console version. Well, at least on the PSP anyways.

» Real-Time?

So when they said that the trailer was in real-time were they referring to graphical experience (e.g. texture, models) or is the game actually going to be ran in that sort of style, for example the camera angles, going in and out of first person views, mechanics, jumping from one stage to another via the birds?

I'm very curious about that because from the looks of the demo it seemed too smooth to be completely real-time, that looked more like a cut scene.

» yep

its actually realtime, bro. we're in for a treat my friend!
