God of War Collection - Image 1We knew there was something to that survey that Sony sent out back in April. Remember that time, they were asking whether or not you wanted God of War I & II in the God of War III Collector's Edition?

Well, of course there was a reason they were very particular about the question. It's because they were seriously considering it, they just needed to be sure you wanted it as well.. And now, it's final and official.

Over at the PlayStation Blog, Sony made the announcement via Anthony Caiazzo, SCEA's Product Marketing Manager. Simply put, the fans spoke and they listened. Coming this holiday, you can now go back to God of War and God of War II in full, remastered HD glory, thanks to its Blu-ray Disc Compilation. And for the first time, there will be PSN trophy support for the famed franchise.

According to the official press release, the compilation will cost only US$ 39.99 MSRP. Said Scott Rohde, VP for Worldwide Studios America,

Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720 on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected.

The Blu-ray Disc compilation of God of War I & II will be available this holiday season, perfect for brushing up on Kratos' world before his third adventure in God of War III comes out in March 2010.

Thanks to Saad for the tip!

» Hmmm

That's awesome. I haven't played the first 2 yet(Only the one on the Psp) and i can't wait until i get my hands on it.

Hope it will run on a non backwards compatible ps3.

» Oh yeah

I knew GOW is a big game for the PS. I never had the chance to do the first 2 games ... now i have that chance with my PS3 ... thank you sony

by danielakadanny - 2009-08-31 12:02
» it will

I think it was recoded for it could run on the PS3 and I am sure that it can't run on the PS2 cause of the Blu-Ray disk

by Shatterdome - 2009-08-31 12:05
» Yup...

I havn't played the first two either, I will definitely pick this up. I am curious if that GoW3 demo will be on there as well.

Also, this will play on all PS3's. They are just "porting" them to PS3....it's also why they will support trophies.

» hmmm ...

i might consider this. i haven't played the first 2 and the 3rd looks promising..hmm i'm pretty sure we'll be able to pick up 1+2 for the ps2 for a lot cheaper after this is released. what the heck, they're probably as ***** now anyway...HD? that's will probably be the deciding factor; is that important enough?

» wow

I can't believe so many of you guys haven't played Gow I or II. Epic is the only word to describe them. I might have to pick this up even though I've played both games, 40 bucks for remastered, hd and 60fps versions is just to hard to pass up. Oh, and trophies? Hell yes.

by danielakadanny - 2009-08-31 16:02
» yes I know...

I am ashamed I didn't pick up this game earlier but now i get a steal XD

I wouldn't bank on that option. Square Enix doesn't seem like the type of devs to put forth that effort, even adding trophies to them. This is just a rare thing since this is from Sony's first party.

Anyway: I'm curious how the trophies will work, will they both have 51 trophies each and have 1 platinum for each, or will they split one with 26 and one plat, and the other with 25 with a plat?

Kinda cool either way. But I have a feeling those trophies will be hard as hell.

» hmm

if they can make a PS2 game play on a PS3 just like that, wouldnt it show that all PS3s have BC? why cant all games be done like that? no reprogramming needs to be done to make it play on a non BC PS3? unless this is SONY's way of trying to introduce software emulation BC to all PS3s.. lol..

Two relatively recent beautifully brutal classic third person action adventure games ported to the PS3 upgraded to HD and with trophy support? Take my money now please

» Why do my tips never get through???

I also informed you about this.....

Anyway......

Never played the first ones, BUT DAMN, now in 720p, 60 fps and... TROPHIES!!!!

It couldn't get any better.....

» I'm can't believe it either!

God Of War series is awesome and I can't believe so many people still haven't played them. I wonder though, if our old PS2 game saves will work with this Blu-ray copy.

by fearlubu - 2009-09-01 08:37
» not

everyone is a fan of trophies....with the little time i have to play games (college.......POR QUE?!?!) im lucky to even play through the story mode and enjoy it (instead of playing little bits of 40 min per day...)

by truk - 2009-09-01 10:07
» trophies..?

meh

by Shatterdome - 2009-09-01 11:02
» ...

I am with fearlubu....I am in university and also have a life, and the same would apply to anyone with a job and a life....you just do not have the time to beat a game 4 times trying to get all the acheivements/trophies....

Whichever ones I get durring the course of my regular gameplay, is alll I ever care about.

Now if you are 14yr old kid living at home with no job and never leaves the house, I can see the draw that trophies would have...

by pawn535 - 2009-09-01 15:49
» Great!

Awesome, I wanted to play the first two but never got a chance, now I can just pick this up! thanks sony

by Jmak01 - 2009-09-01 23:30
» This is brilliant

I've always wanted to play these games, but didn't want to risk purchasing them to run on my PS3 to find they might not work. I hope the graphics converted well (Tekken 5 did). I'm definitely buying this. This is a good decision since a lot of people went over to PS3 (from PS2) before playing God of War, and now we get to play the backstory. Another game I never got round to playing was Shadow of the Colossus, and Okami maybe they'll do this for other epic titles?
