God of War 3 survey sparks backwards compatibility talk |

Kratos bringing sexy back...wards compatibility...?
Having both God of War and God of War II released on Blu-ray would be hella awesome. The prospect was put on the table by none other than Sony, upon sending a recent survey asking gamers what they'd want in a God of War III Collector's Edition.
Of course, having both PS2 classics redone on Blu-ray doesn't quite fit the backwards compatibility (BC) bill - but it's still a work around. See, in order for it to fall under BC terms, they'd have to be talking about re-releasing the game in their original PS2 DVD counterparts, not Blu-ray. So... why is Sony asking this in the first place?
A SCEA representative contacted Kotaku to clarify this matter:
It is simply a marketing survey. The goal of it is to do focus group testing. We're just trying to find out what would resonate with the God of War community.
Ok, so maybe Sony's way to curb the backwards compatibility issue is to release PS2 games on Blu-ray. Sounds a bit too expensive on manufacturing costs (not to mention technical issues), but if it's something they're willing to do, then so be it. Turns out that Sony isn't closed to the idea of making PS2 DVD games playable on a PS3 either. So continues the SCEA rep:
If that was the number one requested thing, that would be something they would need to see if that was most technically feasible. Obviously with Blu-ray, we're able to put more content on the disc. But in terms of having seen God of War II on a Blu-ray disc on a debug and playing it that way, no, that's not something I've seen.

Do it
hopefully they do :)
they'll just port it
I think it's a waste of time, I'd rather them put the time , that they'd waste remaking GoW and GoW2, into GoW3 and make it one amazing game, rather than 3 okay games.
...that'd just delay the release date
I don't really consider GoW1 + 2 to be 'okay games' to begin with. They're excellent and I certainly would love to buy them both with the new game.
its not like their gonna add new levels and stuff. All they have to do is fix it to play on the ps3 and maybe they can give the graphics a little spit shine.
I don't think it's a bad idea. Nintendo does the same thing with their "New Play Control". So why shouldn't Sony do the same thing? As long as the price is okay, I would buy it.
Just spend more time making the game great. This game will definitely affect how well the PS3 does in the future. Besides, if you didn't get a BC PS3 it's your own fault. GOW 1 & 2 were great games, but I wouldn't care to play them again when I just picked up the PS3 version.
'if you didn't get a BC PS3 it's your own fault.' Uh no, it's the fault of Sony who stoped producing it and caused that particular model to become a lot harder to purchase, especially brand new. And second hand prices can get a lil much on sites like eBay where people are outbidding each other raising the price higher on a 60gb PS3 purely for that compatibility feature.
