God of War 3 - Image 1When it comes to God of War III, I'll take any piece of news I can get, even rumors.

This one comes from games "insider," Gamesblow, who says he's been sent a "pretty detailed run down of what to expect from God of War 3" by an informant.

Just to be clear, Gamesblow has a reputation in the gaming community for making up rumors. For now though, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since he was spot on with the info he shared on Uncharted 2.

So just take this leaked info with a grain of salt. You may not believe what he says, but it's still a pretty damn good wish list (except the part about GoW 3 at the VGA). Here's what he reveals about the game:
  • The trailer that will be shown at the VGA will be 10, maybe 20 seconds max. Sucks.
  • It will be the new standard in graphics, "easily eclipsing the detail in Gears of War 2 and Uncharted... God of War 3 is set to offer up the most cinematic experiences ever!"
  • The game will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second.
  • Kratos will not be the only playable character in the game. Gamesblow offers Kratos' brother as a likely candidate.
  • Gameplay will be "somewhat the same," but with tweaks.
  • "The camera is now placed much closer and everything is bigger and only on "certain" instances does the camera pan way out on you. [...] There are 3 new mechanics to the gameplay engine that drastically alter it for different players."
  • There will be an online mode, which will include "Gladiator" and co-op.
  • And the cream of the crop: there will be a playable demo for the PSN in the next few months.
Gamesblow's informant also describes a video he's seen of the game:

The area he has seen shows Kratos battling hordes of rotting corpses in a highly detailed cemetery. There is a a sea supplying eerie fog as the backdrop, along with dead trees and headstones. The sky has a reddish hue to it but real time storm clouds act as a blanket of night for the setting.

And that's all, folks. He doesn't say anything about a release date, but if his info is true and a playable demo is coming in the next few months, does this mean we'll see the game next year after all? At any rate, we'll soon see if his info is credible in a few days, when the Video Game Awards airs, so watch out for that.

they'll have to work a lot to get to that

Even if what he said is a load of BS i just hope the part about the demo is right, other than that none of the other stuff matters to me now.

» Brother?

I thought Kratos killed his brother. (see GOW1 Kratos's history video after beating game on Hard)

Unless they bring him back in some undead manner like the Barbarian King, I think that is BS?

Might be right though...

I wouldn't mind the 1080P 60 fps, or online "gladiator" and coop modes. Online seems pretty significant to me. 1080P 60 fps tells me that when I run the game in 720P (since that is what I have) it will probably run very smooth.

I care more about those two things than if I will get a demo in a couple months.

If I remember correctly they were separated when they were still young. The brother never died so I don't get how Kratos could have killed his brother when they never meet again. Remember his brother was supposedly weak so he became an outcast.

» this is all speculation but...

at the end of god of war 2, Zeus (well athena) reveals that kratos is zeus son. if that is the case, then hercules would be his brother. there has been a rumor for a long time that you would fight hercules in part 3, and this may help confirm it. It would be completely awesome to use hercules in a god of war game.

» Thanks

Dunno where I got the brother-killing part from, but yeah I do remember that they were separated.

I suppose your speculation makes sense rpgpro, but as Greek mythology says, Zeus had loads of affairs with other women...I dunno if Hercules would be a "real" brother to him as the mothers are different.

Guess we'll see more info in the future.
