Namco Museum - Image 1

While trawling through the Internets, we came across this nice tip on how to get a few special items for PlayStation Home. This may not be new to those who were in the closed beta, but the newer participants may find this to be of some interest.

First, you'll need to create a Japanese PSN account and download the Namco Museum demo. If you achieve high scores in the demo's playable games (Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and Xevious), you'll unlock in-Home stuff ranging from clothes to full-on arcade machines. It looks like you may have to purchase the full game to activate the arcade machines though.

According to Joystiq, this trick has been confirmed as working with the US version of Home. Some reports have also confirmed it for those in Europe. Oh, and be sure to play Namco Museum under your main account to make sure the freebies show up in your Home.

Yep

I have 3 arcade machines in my home space now. I can not get 100% on Galaga or Xevious. Just 50% on those and 100% on the other 2 games.

!

Talk about old news, this is like a few weeks old. The only advice I can give is to download this on your JP account and instal it on your main account, so that way when you unlock the arcade machines for your personal space, you and your friends will be able to play them. If you don't install it on your main account, the machines will still be available, but will not be playable.

!

Yeah i told you this via tip a while back, plus to add to the unlockable list, although you can unlock arcade machines for your apartment they wont work :(

really?

I got it from the Hong Kong store and they are playable... for me anyways, my friends cant play them. Probably because the Namco Museum is a beta with only 4 games and 2 levels per game. Maybe when we get the full version, people on our friend list can play the 2 level demo and give them the option of buying the full game. You have to install the NM like a normal game onto your PS3, then if you are inside Home, you play one of the arcades and it will launch the game (the specific game, not the whole museum) without having to quit Home altogether, it even shows the "Playstation" boot logo.

coool stuff

this is pretty cool. too bad if you can't read katakana, it will take a while to find this on the japanese psn. the japanese name is ナムコミュージアムBETA

Yay

Katakana, hiragana. Both easy to read. But for the people who can't, a Chinese (Hong Kong) account does the trick too: its PSS is in English.

ha!

This is great! Love to see devs using home to move sales. Maybe the ps3 will do better as more devs use this option...

DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS NEWS REPORT READ THIS INSTEAD!!!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD NAMCO MUSEUM FROM JAPANESE PLAYSTATION STORE. IF YOU DO THEN IT IS CONFIRMED YOU IF YOU WIN THE ARCADE CABINETS FOR YOUR APARTMENT YOU CANNOT ACCESS THE GAMES THROUGH THEM FROM HOME. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE IF YOU DOWNLOAD NAMCO MUSEUM FROM HONG KONG PLAYSTATION STORE. SO DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE HONK KONG PS STORE, AND QJ GUY MAKE SURE UR %150 CORRECT BEFORE POSTING NEWS. THANK YOU!

YEP

the reason the arcade cabinets don't work is because you downloaded the japanese version of namco museum. it is necessary to download hong kong version. so don't do what QJ says, use the hong kong ps store.

...

Yes you can. I made both Japanese and an Hong Kong account just to test this out, cause I was bored and due to the rewards removing themselves after a log out. Anyways, yeah, the game machines can be played, although, you can't actually play them in Home, you're logged out and into the Namco Museum for that one game. Your friends cannot play them in either, they'll have to actually download the demo themselves before playing or you'll recieve a message saying to do so. No caps please. Thank you!
