Get down and dirty with this MotorStorm preview and screens |
Ó
Okay, must...think...write...coherently...DAMN! can't tell you how hard it is to write when your drooling this much. Just give me a few seconds to get it together, okay? 1..2..3..4..5, alright we're good. So anyway, we're here to give you a preview (and more screens!) of one of the hottest racers to come out on the PS3, Evolution Studios' MotorStorm.
Lucky lucky IGN was able to take this baby out for a test drive and according to them, the developers are living up to their studios' name because with every new game build released, we'll see that the visuals are just evolving to better quality. The cars are extremely detailed (down to the disc brakes, axles, and engine action), realistic damages to the vehicles (the bodywork crumples, bumper hangs loose, etc.) and you could almost taste the mud and dust kicking up your screens.
Also, IGN shares with us that if you go all road raged, crash into stuff, and drive furiously, flames will flick from the stuttering engine, then your vehicle (your choice of ATV, big bikes, 4x4s, rally cars, and more) packs in and explodes, filling up your screen with springs and tyres and other car parts, which just looks...so...beautiful. It might even be worth intentionally crashing your vehicle for, just too see the explosions and a mass of cogs spill from the gearbox. Sigh.
At this point we are so terribly gushing and dreamy-eyed about the game so we'll just let you read IGN's experience for yourself, just click on the read link below and you're all set. But before you do that, join us in our gushing and dreamy-eyed state by checking out these vrooming and-a roarrring screens:

I wanted it for launch so so bad.. Its a crying shame to be tagged with a 3/1 release date........ noooooooooo!
Whats the chances of a downloadable demo on launch day? Plz plz plz i beg you!
Even tough this game doesn't make it into my must have upcoming list, which includes Oblivion (okay, it's already out, but I dont have a system to play it yet), Bioshock, Zelda:TP, Exite Truck and Spore. This does look like a original, brilliant and dirty game that I can't wait to play. Motorsports have forever been a major part of gaming since the dawn of 2D sprites (128x64 and greater), yet it's been rare to find a decent representation of the sport, this PS3 game by far outdoes the lackluster simulation of MX or Motocross Madness.
I'm hoping it (or its sequal) gets ported to X360 one day, otherwise it'll be a shame for me to miss this game, as PS3's other titles have't exactly taken my breath away as of yet.
On another note, the PS3 seems to be capable of huge amounts of detail, moreso than X360, which will be interesting when the winner of this gen becomes clear. X360's CPU appears to handle more interactivity + AI/Effects etc at one time, Cell seems to be able to concentrate its efforts on one task at hand, and do it well, which is the complete opposite of what I was expecting.
To all QJ readers out there: what do you think PS3's advanages will be over X360, how about disadvantages? It's about time we heard from fans willing to stick there neck out so close to the launches
When I pre-ordered my PS3 at gamestop, I also put 50 bucks down for Motorstorm. Why? Because the *estimated* release date of Gamestop (3/1) is WAY OFF.
Have you seen the previews of this game? At the Tokio convention thing, or whatever, they said it was 60% finished. I think it is likely that evolution studios will add more content to the game, but a march release, IMO, is unbelievable.
I estimate a release date in December, but not too far from November 17.
I'm not planning on buying many PS3 games yet. There will be some free ones that you can download, and I'll be busy playing Final Fantasy XII.
cell is better with AI and physics, i think you got it the other way around
are all the tracks on a canyon because the game would lame if it was true.
...MotorStorm is being produced/published by Sony (developed by Evolution Studios). It (and its sequels) will NEVER appear on 360; it's Sony's IP.
This game looks worse and worse as new screens are released. I remember the first video made the game look so good until I found out that it was a Silicon Graphics cut scene. Now they release "actual" screen shots of the game and it looks like a cartoon compared to the stuff that was first released.
disappointed. I think I'm going to buy a new computer or som dom perignon instead.
Thats because the very first thing we saw for Motorstorm was a CG video of what the studio wanted to achive. Say what you want but I think they came very close!
Are all the tracks on a canyon? Because if they were, game would really lame.
