Every great game goes through several testing and development stages before it passes as the final product that we all buy, play, and sometimes sell later to get money for new games (Hey, times are tough!). Well, it's no different for LittleBigPlanet, and Media Molecule hands us an imaginary time machine and takes us to the LittleBigPlanet that we never saw, it's the LittleBigPrehistory, and yes, it's got dinosaurs!

Concept art - Image 1 Before everything that we've come to enjoy about Sackboy today, did you know that Media Molecule originally wanted to have an entire Sack family in the game? But as it is, Sackboy is an all-purpose figurehead, and you can turn him into a girl, a dad, or a mom if you want to. There won't be any need to have multiple Sackpeople if one Sackboy is all you need , right?

Inventory - Image 1Speaking of all-in-one, the modern PopIt tool that we keep whipping out was once a traditional mundane inventory screen. MM reveals that it took a few iterations before they finally settled on a portable inventory screen which is now the PopIt tool. It's still a lot like an inventory screen, but major props on making it look more creative than your typical RPG menu.

T-Rex - Image 1And of course, all this talk of prehistory makes one think about dinosaurs. In a rather ironic twist of fate, LittleBigPlanet used to have ferocious bosses, including this mechanical T-Rex. Other characters and bosses were also supposed to be in the game, but they coach held tryouts and they didn't make the cut. All that remains of them are the concept arts.

Quite cool stuff there. I would have liked to have seen that t-rex in the game.
