GDC 09: Dead Rising 2 will have multiplayer mode |
Ó

Are 6,000 zombies not enough for you? Or is it a task too daunting for one man alone? If you're thinking more of the latter, then here's some good news: apparently, Blue Castle is readying that number for Dead Rising 2's multiplayer mode.
A GDC 09 report from IGN has recently confirmed that Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) will indeed have multiplayer, and developer Blue Castle is using the mental mill software Gino blogged about before to bring those 6,000 zombies to co-op.
No other details about the game's multiplayer mode were mentioned, but hey, at least now you won't have to face the zombie horde alone.

-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO P!!!!
I just hope it doesn't feel tacked on.. I hope it's like a completely alternate mode or maybe something like Infinity Mode in addition to the campaign!
I really hope they turn out great, but something tells me this and Bioshock 2 will not be anywhere near as good as the first ones. Firstly because different studios are making the games and secondly because they are tacking on multiplayer in games that don't need it.
Dead Rising and Bioshock were two of the best games ever made IMO without multiplayer, the hell with the people who want multiplayer in every game they play, these games don't need it. Unless it's JUST simple co-op with an extra character added, and not a serious chunk of dev time used to make some *****ty deathmatch mode
We'll see, maybe the MP modes in this and BS2 will be great and not diminish the single player in any way, but it doesn't usually work that way. Look at Halo 2, they spent a ton of time refining the mp and turning it into the first great LIVE game, but the single player went from being some of the best ever in Halo 1 to being pretty crap
I wasn't interested in this game at all but now ya say multiplayer? Hmm, I'll keep a watch on it then..
