Next-gen gamers looking for more action titles need not worry as Sierra Entertainment is on track to punctuate 2008 with a promising offering. Prototype (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, PC) has been shown off and talked about by the crack devs on several occasions, but this new video interview is sure to deepen our understanding of the title.

In this trailer, Sierra talks about the core gameplay mechanics of Prototype and the rationale behind their design. You'll be playing as shape-shifting protagonist Alex Mercer who has the ability to assimilate forms, memories, and knowledge from enemies in order for him to elude danger. The plot is set up in present-day New York City - a locale the devs wish to portray with emphasis in this game.

All the landmarks are sure to be there and Sierra Entertainment promises to make the metropolis a living, breathing one. We're sure you want to find the rest of the details out for yourself, so play the video and be enlightened. Enjoy!
