Gamestation says its midnight PS3 launch was a success |
Ó
UK retail chain Gamestation was rather quiet when it comes to their PlayStation 3 (PS3) launch the other day. Unlike other stores, all it did was released an announcement regarding its midnight launch and before that, a PS3 pre-order listing for 424 GBP. Maybe it doesn't want to attract too much attention that will, in turn, attract security issues or something. We don't know. Anyway, just moments after the launch is over, Product Manager Jorden Jones went public and gave a few details on what transpired during the event.
According to Jones, more than 200 of their stores were opened last night to accommodate thousands of gamers waiting to get their hands on a PS3. He then remarked,
Last night's openings were a great success and we have teamed up with Sony to provide exciting "Concept Zones" in some of our stores - allowing gamers to get to grips with this next generation console, proving yet again that Gamestation is THE destination for gamer.
The Gamestation official then said than in case some of you haven't gotten their consoles yet, there are still plenty of units available from their stores. Prices begin at 425 GBP and all launch titles are in stock as well.

I was there at the midnight opening in Eltham, SE London.
There were about 30 of us waiting for it, each of us got our consoles, drank a bit, ate a bit and left. The music was cool too! I don't know if that was standard, but kudos to the shop manager!
Anyway, I checked back today to see how the PS3 has been selling, and so far it's pretty good. They've sold almost all of their launch allocation.
It needs to sell well in the UK as elsewhere it has been pretty much a flop. And it is has not sold out anywhere near the allocated UK amount yet.
in peterborough there was just me untill 11:00pm then someone turned up at 11:15 then someone else at 11:30 then six more towards 12:00... mm,..
