If we would name something as the biggest news of the century, it won't be Nintendo buying Sony and Microsoft. Everything pales in comparison to what we just found. A tragedy it may be, but the heart of evil would laugh at such event. What exactly is this tear jerking news? A PS3 unit just died.You read that right. The Xbox 360 might be suffering a 33% failure rate, but owners of the box are reported to be having the time of their lives. That isn't the case with this young man who desperately tried to save his dying PS3. You must be pretty intrigued now, so we'll get on with it.
There's this poster over the Blu-ray.com forums going by the name BluManta. On the post he made, he told the story of his friend who called him after said friend's PS3 "just died for no reason." Our hero in the making asked if any broken games, DVDs, or Blu-rays were used on the unit. Answers were all "no."
Finally, BluManta decided to venture over to his friend's place. To his shock that could shake the whole world, the mentioned dead PS3 had duct tapes over the vent. Why you ask? His friend answered, "I am really cautious about my ps3. I really look after it. I don't want dust getting inside it so I covered up the holes to stop dust from getting in."
Thus, another console died and it wasn't a 360. Our condolences go to the broken PS3's owner, and salutations to his friend who valiantly attempted to find out what was going on and tell everyone about it.

As a non-American I would completely disagree.
Firstly, I think it's stupid to label a WHOLE nation as being dumb because of the action of the leaders. That's like saying all the people of a certain country are evil if they happen to have an evil ruler. It's stupid, unfair, and ignorant.
Secondly, what has 360 failure rates got to do with the people of America? I can understand president Bush to an extent on the basis that people voted for him, but the failure rates of a product says nothing about the people of America and so it's stupid to link the two.

Dude, if you want to keep your PS3 free of dust, keep it in a well ventilated area, keep that area CLEAN, cover up your PS3 with the cloth that came with it WHEN YOU AREN'T USING IT, and finally, get a small eletrical fan or a syringe and gently blow air right on the vents to release any dust that may have accumulated on it.
Dust WILL get through, but you CAN limit it.

That article was based basically on opinions and educated guesses at best. One of the people interviewed was an EX EB games employee (not even a manager or anything), probably making $5.50 an hour. It says they polled "several" stores (seems like 2 or 3) but not how they arrived at the 33% failure figure. Also, EB games is a cheap ass rip off store, so it makes sense they would not give you a new console with a warranty claim.
I'm pretty sure the failure rate is more that what MS would admit (5-7%.) But this article has presented no evidence to suggest 33% of the XBOX 360s are returned or defective. The best buy manager interviewed was referring to launch consoles.
I personally think about 10-15% of XBOX 360 consoles fail that are not abused. Not good, but not as bad as made out to be.

My friend has his fifth Xbreak 360. Each of the consoles had died quickly (between day and a week, or did not work at all), thank god for extended warrenties. I myself am still on my first and only Wii and PS3, no problems.
