Ó

ps3After much speculation (from the whole gaming community) and bit-by-bit updates (from us), we finally have the list of confirmed PS3 launch titles. This one's for real guys, Sony has just confirmed this list during this year's SCEA Gamer's Day. Choosing which one to buy and play first will be a real tough one, as the launch list sports really good titles (and we mean REALLY good titles) that we've all been itching to play.

So anyway, we'll just give you the list but please try to contain your excitement because...well...wait, nope, there's no reason not to jump up and down, go out to the streets and dance like a chicken, so yeah, go ahead and scream your heads off if you want. Here's the oh-so-sweeeet list of confirmed titles to be available at the PS3 launch:

- Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (Ubisoft)
- Call of Duty 3 (Activision)
- EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 (EA)
- F.E.A.R. (Vivendi)
- Full Auto 2: Battlelines (Sega)
- Genji: Days of the Blade (Sony)
- Madden NFL 07 (EA)
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Activision)
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (Namco Bandai)
- NBA 07 (2K Sports)
- NBA 2K7 (2K Sports)
- Need for Speed Carbon (EA)
- NHL 2K7 (EA)
- Resistance: Fall of Man (Sony)
- Ridge Racer 7 (Namco Bandai)
- Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda)
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (EA)
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (EA)
- Tony Hawk's Project 8 (Acivision)
- Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (Sony)

We here at QJ are still trying to work out a consensus on which game we'll be playing first, but looks like that's gonna be impossible. In fact, while I'm writing this article, some of the guys are in the other room still deep in discussion (nah, more like talking in raised giddy voices) of what to get first. I just sneaked out to write this article and bring you guys the list. Hahaha. Perhaps you guys can help us decide?

well i'm a thps die hard so i'd get project 8 first, and then of course the much anticipated resistance fall of man.

» They all suck

If I didn't already have a 360 I might be excited..... I don't even know what to get and I already preorderd, paid for everything and motor storm and heavenly sword. i forgot those werent launch titiles... :(

i guess ill have to switch heavenly sword preorder to one i can actually get at launch..... um i hate FPS so resistance is like a diamond cobra.

Fight night 3 looks like it has extra special graphics... maybe that i guess, or ridge racers and hope it doesnt suck...

whats the best basketball game (from EA?) i usually hate basketball but their tech demos looked amazing, uhhhhhhhh this sucks they all suck who cares about a bunch or crappy sports games and some 1/2 azzz first person shooters n drivers..... ah man i just spent like 800 bucks on a freekin system that doesnt even have a good launch title..

oh no oh no oh no no oh

by no one cares - 2006-10-20 14:17
» kinda surprised

didn't know Motorstorm wouldn't be a launch title wouldn't be a launch title till now. But seeing that lineup the only new games not released on the 360 are Full Auto 2, Resistnance and Untold Kingdom. What happened to Oblivion wasn't "secret" launch title? Whatever I'll just wait and see what other games will come out in the following 6 months.

by hush404 - 2006-10-20 14:46
» umm

motor....storm :(?

wow thats sad 360 had better launch titles call of duty 2, pdz pgr3 you no plus half of these ps3 launch titles will come out 2 weeks earlier on 360 i might just wait for mgs4 or a price drop maybe you heard of one of those before on your expensive ass psp to

by hush404 - 2006-10-20 14:57
» uhh yeah

I must of missed the part where anybody gives a rats a$$ about your personal preference in games.

by snowspot.net - 2006-10-20 15:15
» this launch sucks.

What a boring list.

How many sequels are there...jesus....there is absolutely no originality in this line-up.

by kuriboi2k6 - 2006-10-20 15:37

» sad xbots

Ha ha look at all these sad Xbots posts above. The launch games for 360 were not that good, I know I have one. Maybe you're all upset because PS3 will actually get the full complete versions of some of the games 360 has. The real point here is there are some good oringinal games on this list and more total games than the 360 launch so you really have no reason to diss the PS3 list.

by gears - 2006-10-20 16:40
» gears

lol

3 words

GEARS OF WAR

nothing looks like gears

by Snowspot.net - 2006-10-20 17:09
» Well

I just don't understand how anyone in their right mind can pay so much for a console that ...almost ALLLLL the games are being released on other consoles.

Oh and the people dissing the 360? The 360 doesn't cost 600 .... it also has rumble :D. Oh and the 360 would be a way better choice at this point because it's past it's launch, most of it's defective units are out of circulation , and things are finally starting to pick up on the marketplace. Anyone that buys a ps3 will have to deal with Sony's growing pains as it figures out how to be a contender for the next gen.

I'm just not willing to bet that much on a company, that just last year, saw the death of ANOTHER medium created by them...the UMD. They don't support the PSP well, they steal all their ideas for the PS3 from competitors, they aren't modest, they overcharge, and they are basically trying to shove Blu-ray down your throat so you'll buy their blu-ray movies.

I mean, the stupid gamers out there buy into this crap so easily. It's Sony, I'll buy it. You guys need to start using your head. Are you a gamer? Or are you just about having the newest thing? If sony had it their way, there would be no PSP homebrew community and you wouldn't be able to purchase pre-owned games (oh wait, they're already starting to implement that). They aren't on your side...they want your money, and your money is buying increasingly less from them.

You guys are contributing to the fleecing of gamers.

That's not to say MS isn't doing it's own thing, or even Nintendo and it's several incarnations of the gameboy. Sony is just making it so apparent though.

» wtf?

Why are people *****ign and moaning about titles?

I have a 360 and when it came out there was NOthing i simply had to pick up.... I ended up getting Condemned and PDZ .. both of which didn't really impress me to a great degree. The only reason 360 titles got any buzz was because they were the first ones to market. Pdz

isn't a bad game but it's not great....

the only titles to date that i HAD to pick up for the 360 are Dead Rising and Oblivion. The latter i could've picked up for my pc and the former was Buggy as hell... or rather the console was buggy.. the game was fine.

As to Sony's List? ReSIstance is a MUST buy.. any game that can pack a blue ray disc with content is worth a look.. Other than that there are about 2-5 titles i'll keep an eye on to see how they're received..

Genji.. could be another Heavenly sword .. maybe not

Untold legends.. cuz i like the dungeon crawl..

Gundam looks decent..

Full Auto 2? maybe .. hit or miss.

Sure i'd like to see Mgs4 or Lair or Warhawk but i'll make do with what's there... Even considering i don't play sports or plain racing games...

And failing that? i'll snag some Ps2 games on the cheap to kill time until some killer apps come out.. and they're coming soon. Hell, I can even go nostalgic and get some ps1 titles if i'm so enclined... Something that pissed me off about the 360.. half assed backwards compatability crap.

what are they putting out now.. about 5 new titles every 5-6 months? piss me off. Don't get me wrong.. i know you buy a next gen console for next gen games but.. 360 has had a damn long dry spell all this year..

.. which.. admittedlly is coming to an end... THey have some nice exclusive titles coming up..

.....

Gears of war being one main reason i haven't sold my space heater 360..

And what's this crap about rumblepaks? give me a choice and i'll take motion sensing controllers over the shake and rattle any day of the week. Rumblepaks improve the quality of a game (to some) whereas motion awareness changes how the game is played.. it's innovative.. that's why the wii has any chance of succeeding.

by KnowLedge - 2006-10-20 21:42
» Damn

You guys have really weak memory, X360 launched with 18 games, only 3 were exclusive (Kameo, PGR3 and PDZ), and none of them was critically acclaimed as a great game.

Now on PS3 launch? We get best version of Oblivion, Resistance, Ridge Racer 7, definite version of Fight Night Round 3 and FEAR - those games are destined to be AAA titles.

I will be buying around 8 games with my PS3, for now I think I'll be going with: NBA 07, FNR3, Resistance, RR7, Oblivion, THPS8, Rainbow Six and Untold Legends.

by SteveTao - 2006-10-21 20:57
» LOL

Of course nothing looks like Gears. Gears look like crap. Now, why would any game want to look like that crappy ass looking Gears game? Resistance, on the other hand, is GOD!

by Waffle Ninja - 2006-11-17 21:33
» Meh

PS3 verison of Oblvion isn't the best, it's just genericly the same thing as the other two platform releases. There is nothing exclusive about the added material to the PS3 verison as Bethesda Software is about to ship out boxed copies of the extra material in the PS3 as an expansion fo the PC and allow online downloading of the extra content online for PC gamers who hate boxes and on Xbox Live for Oblivion players for the 360.

As for Fight Night Round 3, the only difference in graphics is nothing. It's just exactly the same thing as the 360's. Claiming it as anything else is silly and idiotic. What is different is 1080p output, if you're a lucky moe with one of the few TV's that handle that. Besides I'm not a boxing fan nor a sports fan so there's little motovation for me to flip for either verison of Fight Night.

I don't really care much for Fall of Man myself, the game's ok. But it's not stellar nor as solid of a title it was hyped up to be and it's nearly as short as Gear's singleplayer and the multiplayer... gah, don't get me started. It's tollerable but it's not my must play MP fix of a game, I'll stick to BF 2142 and Ghost Recon.

It's also annoying that Tony Hawk's latest run on ps3 has no online MP when it's 360 edition does. That alone could sour some from owning the game and/or the console altogether for a year or two.
