Gamer a few steps away from a breakdown due to defective PS3 disc loaders...

Poor guy. Apparently his PS3 spits the discs he puts into it right back out.  Anyone would go into a nervous breakdown too. I mean, you spend several hours in line, you endure the cold weather, you put up with annoying celebrities, you manage to control yourself and not immediately creep out the Lara Croft model with your frustrated pervy-ness, and then the PS3 you oh so waited to enjoy spits you games out? What gives?

Here's the description of the poor guy's situation as worded by the Aeropause post:

My friend called me back to let me know that his disc loader on his PS3 was broken. I told him to make sure there were no stickers blocking the hole or something like that but he said there was nothing blocking it and that every time he would feed a disc in it would spit it right back out.

This is the same friend who I wrote about having the old HDTV that would not play PS3 games in HD, and I was able to convince him to keep his PS3 because that problem was bound to be solved. Now he has no PS3 to play on at all and I think he is 1 day away from going into a nervous breakdown.

Well, we all know that no matter how hard people try, no console launch will ever be perfect. Defective consoles are bound to sneak their way into that tight 400,000 unit count. It's only human to make mistakes. The question now is since there are defective consoles out there, what will Sony do about it?

They better do good.

360 > PS3

HAHA!!! 360 FTW!!!!
by - 2006-11-18 06:10:57
Yes, people know there are going to be problems...

...but that doesn't make them stupid for buying a launch console.

1 ps3 so far

defective vs thousands of 360s on launch

guy above me

is a sony fanboy.
by - 2006-11-18 08:48:07
>_>

Yeah, because the 360 obviously had a perfect magical launch. And rainbows followed in the wake of everyone who was taking their console home. And there weren't tons and tons of people racing to the forums to tell about how their X-box 360s weren't working. -_- Stating FACTS about another system that are true doesn't make you a sony fanboy, douche.
by - 2006-11-18 08:56:51
huh?

basically all the ps3s are on ebay(or a few in ps3 fanboys hands) so A.) the ebayers don't know they are faulty or B.) Sony fanboys won't admit the ps3 they are using sucks and is faulty.

paul

He knows that it won't play in HD on his screen without playing it himself as he will have a 1080i screen and will have read the news stories about the PS3 not running in 1080i.

thing is

if it wasn't for early adopters, consoles, televisions and other new technology would never get the penetration it needed to allow it to get to a consumer friendly price. if it wasn't for the hardcore Sony fans camping out and getting a PS3 the past week, none of us who didn't bother to go through with the hassle would get a PS3 in the future. early adopters may be nuts, but i love them anyway. i would have been an early adopter this year too, if i didn't have a bunch of late bills to catch up on.

um

if this story is true, then obviously not everyone put up their PS3's on ebay. another example is my roommate bought his PS3 yesterday, and we spent all night playing games, watching movies, and putzing around with the new console. bottom line, not everybody that bought a PS3 is putting it on ebay for resale. some of us actually enjoy the Playstation brand, and buy the consoles to *play* them.

hahaha

should have gotten a 360 lol I mean the system dont even have enuff power to play gears of war come on why get a system that cant even play a game like gears of war lol

Very few

It seems very few accounts of broken PS3s are appearing on the web. This and the red on the power display. What this article doesn't tell us is that the guy posted this on the 16th, one day before the PS3 was out in the U.S., and didn't even respond to when people were scrutinizing his presumably false claim. There are barely any PS3 defect claims, and there is only one "authentic" case so far. The red power display.
