Gamepro: Lost Planet 2 has "Gears of War-killer written all over it" |
Ó
We've already seen that baddies in Lost Planet 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) can come in sizes bigger than your house so hearing about colossal sand worms really doesn't come as a surprise. But if you're looking for more updates on just how big and nasty these guys and the game can get, you've come to the right place. According to Gamepro, "this game has Gears of War-killer written all over it."
Gamepro was able to check out the latest from Capcom, and what they got was a huge sand worm boss called Red Eye. Looking at the image would probably give you some rough measure of how insanely large this beast is. It's a little far off the background, but it looks as if it won't need to bother chewing your sand cruiser and get right down to the swallowing business.
You and the rest of your four-player co-op team will meet Red Eye in a desert mission in the game, where your "big guns" will try and make this behemoth actually feel some pain.
They're not revealing anything else since the rest of the details that Gamepro got will be revealed in the October issue of their mag. So maybe there we get to see the reason behind the Gears of War-killing. The comment didn't come out of a review, but that's a pretty big compliment.

Dude look at that. That's freaking awesome.
GOW killer though. Better have at least more pics or gameplay to back that up.
If this plays the same way way as the first game then it's a no. Gears may be overrated but it's way better than Lost Planet. The online part of this game looks amazing though. I guess this is Capcom's way of redeeming themselves for not releasing Monster Hunter for the PS3 and 360.
Just cuz this game has big creature its a gears of war killer? where's the cover system, horde, blood, head popping ,chainsaw etc the 1st part of this game before gears so no the do NOT resemble eachother only the camera does and gears didnt even have you killing big monsters like that we could only go inside it. BTW is gamepro full of children ? they see one game with a similiar camera mode and start comparing it ?
Dude, did you even read the article? you have to get the issue to find out why it's the gears killer. They didn't say it was the camera or the big monsters that makes it gears worthy. Everything in your post is an assumption, you know what that makes you...
One who assumes?
I assume we have all assumed at one point in time.
you assume incorrectly, I for one have never assumed
I assume that Megan Fox wont get naked in Jennifers Body, but ill cross my fingers.
this is the MONSTER of gaming companies we are talking about here, if they can't pull it off then who can................gotta love all Capcom games
gears of war is far from the best fps around
I would have to agree to that.
Considering it's a third person shooter
you know what i mean
Yay! Nothing better than fighting giant monsters! I'll agree with papajag in that this does look like CAPCOM's answer to Monster Hunter on next-gen consoles and I'm very excited about this game now.
Also, on the whole assumptions debate, as humans we have to guess or believe in something that we have no evidence for in order to gain evidence and truth of something else. It is these fundamental assumptions that are the building blocks to all of our knowledge and understanding. For example, we assumed that the world was flat even though we had no real evidence for it. However, with this guess, we experimented this theory and learnt that the world is in fact round, not flat. Therefore you can't really say "I never make assumptions" as you can't gain knowledge without assuming something to be true at first.
