Full Auto 2: Battlelines' Developer Diary and Conan the Gladiator |
Ó
Pseudo Interactive Producer Cord Smith gives us the modes that we can expect from their full contact racing game Full Auto 2: Battlelines. He goes into details on the numerous number of tire screeching modes players can (and we know you will) enjoy.
Gladiator Mode: Are You Not Entertained?
We hope you don't mind that we gladly quoted Russell Crowe on his multi-awarded movie Gladiator instead of quoting from Conan the Gladiator (yes, he isn't just a barbarian) Leonard Carpenter. See you didn't even know there was one.
"In standard Gladiator Mode, you battle it out with up to seven other combatants, taking cover in the interiors, flying off jumps to make your escape, activating epic destruction moments, and gathering an assortment of pick-ups that grant you advantages like unlimited boost, full repair, and even a few super weapons for good measure," says Cord Smith.
You and your buddies can ensure your survival by having each other's backs. Ganging up on an opponent is actually advised, even strongly encouraged. Another option is to synchronize the collection of power ups and use tandem super weapon mortar attacks to beat down the other team and cause maximum destruction.
After all that info you still can't get over the fact that there is such a thing as Conan the Gladiator don't you?
Base Assault Mode: Football, Rugby, Whatever You Call It
Simply put, it works the same as football or rugby, except that you're carrying a bomb instead of a ball. Teams will compete for the bomb-power up to have a chance of blowing their competition's base and claiming victory.
There'll be one on the offense who takes the bomb and runs with it, while the rest of his teammates acts as the defensive line, pummeling other cars that might be a threat to the runner. If successful, it will cause critical damage to the opponents' camp and score points for the team. Goal!
Still baffled over Conan the Gladiator huh? Joining a traveling circus after knocking out its strongman in a street brawl, Conan finds the troupe's harmless amusement disrupted when they are forced to fight for their lives in the Arena of Stygian capital of Luxor. Brilliant.
Cat & Mouse Mode: A.K.A The Underdog Mode
Probably the most interesting mode of the lot for Full Auto 2: Battlelines. In this mode players will be divided into two teams. Each with members taking on the title of mouse (1) and cats (maximum of 3). The rules are simple, whichever mouse crosses the finish line first, wins. However, the mouse will be assigned a wreck of a car - underpowered cars and minor rear weaponry. While cats will be driving high-powered cars with short-range weaponry.
So if you think about it, we're all really rooting for the underdog to win. And they say we are a generation that thrives in irony. Wherever did they get that?
Oh yeah, there's Conan the Usurper, Conan the Freebooter, Conan the Buccaneer, Conan the Unconquered, the Bold, the Galiant, the Outcast....
