Free Realms - Image 1John Smedley, Sony Online Entertainment President, delivered a spark of good hope for those awaiting the arrival of their free-to-play MMO, Free Realms, on the PS3. Speaking at the Q&A session earlier today at the GDC in Austin, Smedley pointed to "next year."

When asked when the game will land on the consoles, "I'm wondering, too!" was his reply. He quickly added, "It's next year sometime, toward the middle of the year." Well, that's still quite a vast window, but a more narrowed down window as opposed to TBA, nonetheless, I suppose.

He also talked about the functions that have been made tailor-fit for the console version of the game, indicating that the PlayStation Eye might be providing some support for Free Realms. Hopefully we'll hear more about this soon.

It's good to see games like this coming to PS3. Free to play games might encourage console sales.

Clearly you've never seen this version of WoW for 3 year olds. Death is free, doesn't mean coffin sales have increased.

I agree This is a good thing for the ps3.

@King

You say that as its a bad thing the game targets 10-16yos as its prime players. Its not an adult game. More child friendly games means more family sales.

ohh dood HELL NO

for 10-16??

dood even back when i was probably 15 or even 14 id probably think this games is trash

well, besides all the technological advances, which i doubt this game will use even 1/4 of its potential

perhaps 9-13 seems more fitting

Do any of you know what the current PC game's player age categories are? Or are you all just pulling these ages out of thin air?

» hmm..

will this be a free downloadable game (which should make sense as it is a f2p game) or will be on retail for sale?..
