UPDATE: We were informed by QJ reader, Matt Pizzashack, about what he found when he checked out the PlayStation Store - he found Home. He was also kind enough to share with us some screens (thanks a lot!), check them out:

PlayStationHomeInsider, a new website dedicated to covering Sony's PlayStation Home, has recently posted 4 supposedly leaked screenshots of the PlayStation Home Beta.

They note that the images allegedly first showed up on the Official PlayStation Forums. The four images hint on how launching into the game, the disclaimer, and picking a server should look like. Not breaking news, but worth your time if you're curious about the upcoming PlayStation Network Service.

Behold:

PlayStation Home was first announced during GDC 2007 last March. It is now in its Closed Beta stage, which should run from April to August 2007, and should cater to an estimated 15,000 users. The Open Beta of 50,000 users, should be from August to October.

The service is scheduled to go live on October.

I thought Home would launch from the network menu.

I hope they send the invites out to those who signed up for the beta soon.

That's why this is a beta... because it isn't the final version and it is not as good as it will be when it's released.

The final version will have its own icon in the XMB, no need to get inside the game or network cross to launch it.

i thought it would appear between the network and games menu...

i think it would be best under the network, since it's not a game, but a networked virtual environment.

Home should replace da XMB, to send a message ull walk to a virtual mail box or E-mail, u can listen to da radio(music), TV=videos, u can mk a private chat by inviting ppl to ur house, hav a virtual ps3 to ply games, The PSstore would b a building u walk to,... this in my eyes would b perfect

P.S. there should be actual jobs (cleaning spam), and get paid like $2.00 to ur PSN wallet

# home will kick assGuest 2007-05-02 11:07
but those screen shots look fake because

1. the background looks pixly yet not the home logo

2. home logo on gaming menu: stretched slightly

3. (the kicker) its a CLOSED beta and TRIAL so sony would never let a person download it, most likely ppl in the beta will play it through selected beta testers (as long as you registered your ps3 they should find you) using a temperay "update"

i hope that helps

In that 4th picture you can see the "Beta" is written top to bottom, but on the homebetatrial.com website, the logo is bottom to top.

I'm not saying it's fake but it's certainly weird...

i have been reading on the home site and discovered something that might change a few things:

by clicking and reading the EULA part of site i noticed a lil detail on section 1 part b.

"keep the trial software secure and in good condition"

now how would one keep a download "in good condition ? theres more :

"must not copied, given, or sale to anyone"

I'm not sure but it looked to me like you could access most of the XMB features from within HOME. We already know Music, movies, and photos are supported. I would like to know if you can send invites and launch games from within HOME. If anyone knows the information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

me too, i noticed the HOME icon should not be in the game menu, it should be in line with internet and such, anyways its still early in its beta life and who knows if this pics are fake or not. ok so october it is for a PS3 HOME experience, but wait i will not because play games i will as time permits hehehe!

Home should replace "da" XMB

anyone who says "da" in place of the word "the" need to die a horrible death.

# game iconGuest 2007-05-03 11:07
the reason it is under the game icon is most lekly as previously stated it was either given out on a disc or downloaded as software which would probably place it under the game heading

final release will probaly have its own icon or under network

on that first pic to the left where its says 1/10 and should really say 1/11 if Home is really there???

# of course notGordLacey 2007-05-03 20:02
No, of course it wouldn't say 1/11 since the initial screen only holds 10 items. He would have something else as his last item in the screen.

I don't know why anyone thinks these screenshots are fake - it's not like they show anything amazing, they just show the Home download from the store (which is how they would distribute it - how else would they do it), the download screen, login, and the Home application in the games folder (which makes sense, since there hasn't been a system update to include it anywhere else).
