Formula One: Championship Edition videos |
Ó
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE)'s F1-study sim (with its amazing detail, it might as well be) is turning over well in Japan, and is still waiting for the green flag to drop in North America and Europe.
So, while still waiting for that green flag, GameTrailers decided to show off three new gameplay vids of open cockpit racers zipping around the track: one in rain, one in the streets, and one that might be taking place in the Bahrain International Circuit, which explains all that sand (is there another F1 circuit in the desert we've missed?).
And apparently driven by a chicken. He turned away from the car-to-car collision, the coward.

Well graphically it looks pretty nice, but the handling looks like ass, its way too arcadey. The last good F1 game SCEE Made was... Oh wait.
I sure do hope it has a "hard as nails sim mode" to it, or it'll probably pass me by like every other console racing game does (except Forza and PGR3) Also maybe they could make it work with a steering wheel and footpedals and force feedback, that wud rule.
Oh and btw, "Rainy Day" is Indianapolis, "City Streets" is Monaco.
that looks crazy. Roll on...

You need to get a real look as to how good F1 cars handle.
What you consider arcadey is how F1 cars handle in real life. Check out the video to compare. Its pretty damn close to it.
The game itself holds your hand alot. it will brake for you and get you to the ideal entry speed, all you have to do it follow the race line and guide your car.
You can turn those options off but then the game becomes ridiculously hard to play, it was impossible for me to get the same lap times with the assistance when I wasn't using it.
If you want a realistic F1 sim, then turn all those assistance options off and you got pretty much close to the real thing.
sorry, no force feedback for ps3. lol, welcome back to 1989.
looks almost real kinda sorta
I have the demo for my PS3 and i don't even like Racing games but when i played this on my HDTV man i was like shyt this game is good, it handles great and the graphics are really good.....i bet some xbox fan is going to say that this game sucks and that is not better then bla bla bla bla i really don't care so STFU!!!!!
Sorry guys, but this game just isn't good.
It looks good but plays terrible. So those concerned but how it plays are right.
Expect most other reviews to say the same.
No matter what and I mean what anyone says the FACT is NO RUMBLE + NO SIMULATION it will ALWAYS just be an arcade game, you cannot have a simulation without the feel of the acceleration the braking the bumps etc its impossible.
Go find a flight simulator or a rollercoaster simulator that dosent move, there is no such thing as it would not be simulating.
How would you know how it handles without rumble you cant feel the overstear or basically anything else.
I really dont know how you can conclude that.
Dont have to say anything about the 360
Every PS3 Fantard said this game would be a system seller, and looked amazing. What looks amazing? Maybe the rain effects, but thats about it. Very disapointed, it looks like it could have been done on a regular xbox. And the damage effects are very laughable. I have never seen such pour damage modeling. And anyone who says this game is a simulation has never driven a car. Its arcadish at best.
My god - no rumble, no simulation. That is the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. The most hardcore racing simmers don't even buy force feedback wheels. Get a clue man. Rumble - that's not simulation it's fasle sense of bearings.
Go spend a *****load of money on a BRD Speed7 GTS setup and call yourself not a hardcore sim fan when you play it 8 hours a day just because you want to shave that 0.1 of a second off of your race...
That's when you're a sim fan - Sor - get a clue man. I bet you call Gran Turismo a great sim as well...
