Sony Computer Entertainment has at last cleared things up (even by just a bit, but hey, it's welcome) regarding the Pricing set for one of the downloads set to go live on 11/11 on the PlayStation Network... No, we didn't get the date wrong, it's for Japan.
Blast Factor, of course, is the download in question.
IGN reports that the Sony Answer to Geometry Wars will sell for 840 Japanese Yen or approximately $7. Now for those who are screaming highway robbery, be patient. Sony is offering a free demo download for those who want try it before they buy it.
Blast Factor will require around 95 MB on the HD, which of course suggest that even the simplest of PlayStation Network downloads will exceed the size of the original XBLA titles. Well, that's what we're speculating.
Pricing plans for PlayStation Network titles outside of Japan has yet to be announced, but at least we have figures to work guess-timates around. Figures and numbers can be so refreshing sometimes, in the light of on-line pseudo debates about the Network's effectivity.

But I'll play countless hours online for free

so it's 7$ well spent because you tryed it and loved it, and if you dislike the demo? simply save this 7$, what best could they do? ( I know, I know, free games, free consoles, and free arcade with the free online play lol, but we do not live into a "magical" world lol )

But FLOW on PS3 is definitely something im buying!

highps3, i guess you just have a math problem. When you buy points online, you get 400 for $5, but hey, all games are 400 pints, so that must be $5.....
Also, about the MS points, you realize that gamer points are targeted towards younger people who usually don't own credit cards. They can just walk into a store, buy the pre-paid card (w/ cash) and they are set to go. You can also buy them online, (also makes a good gift card) so they really give 2 options to obtain points as opposed to PS3 where you obviously need a credit card and I'm sure that 99% of people who will play on PS3 will not have credit cards. So convenient of Sony eh?
So look at this this way. Let's say you buy 2 arcade games from Sony at $7 each for 12 months. $7*2*12=$168. Let's say, I also get 2 games for the 360 at $5 for 12 months. $5*2*12=$120. The difference ($48) is enough to make up for the cost of Xbox Live GOLD Membership. You can still buy the games with Xbox Live Silver membership which happens to be FREE. So for some people, it could be mean savings but for some it could make up for the Xbox's Gold Service which I think is satisfactory. Obviously, some people buy more than 2 games and some buy less if not none, but 2 sounds like a reasonable amounts of games to buy per month.

So if you buy a game you can then go to (place any guy/gal you like in here) and download that game in that person's PS3, or vice-versa, someone downloading that game from your own PS3 (maybe as a present... or whatever) preety cool, huh? - WARNING, it requires you getting up from the couch and leaving your house - so those bucks seem like a lot less.
Well, at least that's what I saw a time ago here in qj, and I believe it applies with almost everything else on the network - maybe videos, music, game gimmicks, or something like that (not sure, but that's what I got)
what do you guys think?
Reply
According to something I read here on qj you can download that game up to five times on different PS3s, so you can go to (put any person in here) and download it from that person's PS3 - WARNING, it requires you to get up from the sofa and going out of your house in order to perform this operatiion - or vice-versa, someone downloading that game from your own PS3 (maybe as a present... or whatever)
I believe this applies also for other things such as vidoes, music, upgrades or games gimmicks - I still don't know if this is true tho' - preety cool, huh?
what do you guys think?

I will just use the free multiplayer, that's really all that matters to me.
I can't see myself DL-ing $50 worth of demos...

Sony is indeed releasing a games console, but the multimedia functionality is a nice bonus.
they seem to be taking a lot of the criticisms (and outright hatred) to heart these past six months, and are doing what they can to appease their fanbase; cut the price in Japan, include HDMI on both SKUs, etc.
and some of the biggest criticisms and concerns for the console have finally been addressed:
yes, the games look pretty.
yes, the games can be played online for free.
yes, the prices of the games will be $59.99 and under (not $100, like so many fanboy trolls loved to spread around).
bottom line, things are looking good for the PS3, and Sony is actually delivering on so many of the promises they left unfulfilled on the PS2 (personally, i'm 100% satisfied with my PS2, but i know a lot of people were expecting more).
they are delivering a cutting edge, powerful, sleek, and multi-talented piece of technology into our homes this November (and March 2007 for the UK), and for a fair price. no, the PS3 *isn't* just a games console, but if that's all you want, there are alternatives. for everyone else, there's the PS3.
i'm grateful that all 3 consoles are doing something unique. last gen wasn't the case. for the most part, my GC, X Box and PS2 did the exact same thing, and two of them have been collecting dust for the past 5,6 years.
this time around, i expect my 360, PS3, and possibly Wii will be getting equal playtime. it's a great time to be a gamer, that's for certain. there's so much choice and possibility.

I'll buy the ps3 around januray, and the wii next summer, I'm still unsure for the xbox 360... right now only gears of war is getting my attention ( and ninety nine nights but gamespot gave it a 5 I think? or 4 ? :S anyway I also know gamespot hate those kind of games... haa, anyway )
ps: nintendo and sony should fusion, I mean, on console ( the ps3 ) and the two controls and style into it, so you could play those "psWii" games with the controller you want? ( 2 in the box

Arcade games on the Xbox360 look like, arcade games.
If they perhaps made the game extremely visually appealing then $7 bucks for an arcade game at 95mb, would be justified.
Some of you just dont realize how much of a factor graphics can be. Lets say if Armored Core 4 was graphically better on the PS3 then on the Xbox360 but cost 5 bucks more, if you owned both systems, which one would you buy?

They released the price of 1 game so I wouldn't go off speculating that all games will cost that exact amount.
I have this wonderful option also on the PS3 where if I don't want to play arcade games and just want to play my regular online games I spend a total of $0*0*0+$0 you however don't.
