Mark Rein describes his play experience on UT3 PS3 - Image 1The last time we reported on a gamer jumping the gun on a title that was yet to be released to retail, the story ended tragically with the overly eager fan facing the wrath of a banhammer. But when it's a dev studio employee - no less than a VP at that - that decides to rub it in everybody's face that he's got an early bird experience of the title, well, it's a different story altogether.

Over at the Epic Games forums, Epic Games' VP Mark Rein (sort of) tattletaled on his experience playing the Unreal Tournament 3  PlayStation 3 port:

I was playing the PS3 build for a few hours tonight and it is really, really fantastic. Amazingly smooth and solid. I think you PS3 users are in for a huge treat with UT3.

As you guys will recall, UT3's foray to the PS3 won't be preempted by a demo. And while we imagine some fans are getting a tad jealous of Rein's announcement, it's still good to hear that UT3's looking better even if a release date is yet to be announced. UT3 for the PC has already gone gold, and will be launching this November 19. The Xbox 360 version is expected to launch by next year.

» Great news

I already know it's going to look amazing, but hearing that it runs nice and smooth really makes my day. Can't wait for this title to hit the shelves. Also looking foward to Gears 2 on the PS3.

» B4 Xmas?!!!

I bought my PS3 just so I can play ( with all the nobs and whistles ) UT3 without having to pay for a high end PC!! However, I don't see gears 2 ever coming to the PS3, not if M$ have anything to do about it.

» ha

Not tech enough to build a rig at a decent price? Thats fine, enjoy the modless fail that is a console version of a PC game. Just to let you know, a comp cheaper than $400 can play UT3.

» wow

tell me where you buy your computer components from, because the demo I played was on a pretty decent computer, but you had to get rid of a lot of texturing to make it run half-decent.

I guess I'll have to enjoy the modless "fail" which is the console version. Even though... there are mods...

what's a fail...? I guess I'm not tech enough to get what you kids are babbling about these days.

» Damn skidz

I guess you really dont know half the 5hit your talking about..

Its funny seeing people trying to act like they know somthing.

There is going to be Mods so idk where the hell you get theres no Mods on the Ps3 (not sure about the 360). And They said it runs smooth, so how can you twist that into a bad thing? that just shows that the PS3 is better then the $400 computers you buy (you kinda just dissed your computer right there if you think the "consoles" or PS3 is so bad).

by Eclipze_ - 2007-11-01 08:16
» I think they said

That either it has Mods once you buy it, or that there going/could add it in an update.

by Lifeline - 2007-11-01 08:29
» Nope it's true..

They said that they have given the option for PC owners to Mod for the PS3 and may even give them the chance to sell their maps on the Playstation Network..( if their good enough I suppose )
