Finally after months of anticipation, here comes a new video of Heavy Rain with some actual gameplay footage. Developed by the folks at Quantic Dream, the clip shows a glimpse of the intuitive gameplay of the impressive-looking PS3 exclusive.

Hopefully we can have more footage of Heavy Rain in next months E3. The game is scheduled for release in late 2009.

'UPDATE'

Some more gameplay footage of Heavy Rain has been released today along with a new developer interview detailing the characters and the game system. Enjoy.

Bit of a questionable frame rate.

Ya that framerate seems dodgy enough all right...Not that impressed tbh...Ill need to see more I guess before I can make a judgement

Looks pretty good to me. Like I said before people are going to be turned off by the gameplay but I really don't care. This game is a must buy.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around, "a ... footage".

Honestly, the framerate looked like it was capped at 30fps, more than enough for a game like this. This isn't a shooter, or a friggin' rhythm game, you run around and press buttons when the game tells you to so you don't die. The lag you probably thought you saw came from youtube's crappy player.

The game will be great, possibly requiring too high of a mental standard for you little kids.

You're an american arent you?

» Yeah...

Don't judge graphics or framerates from a crappy youtube video...

I think the game looks super interesting, definately a different style of gameplay than we usually see.....should be cool.

the grafix dont look amazing, but thats not that big of a deal. i think that if this game has a great story i will buy it

by almost89 - 2009-05-22 08:28

by Chilloutcolin - 2009-05-22 08:28

ya i thought it might be down to the video and not the game itself ....still not sure about the gameplay....at least it seems original

flashbacks which involve panty dancing....

Naroon's statement about "mental standards" was unintelligible, but your reply is no better.

» Thank god he said

I was a bit concerned about the game's QTE. But the CEO reassures us it's not like Dragons Lair. F*** i hope so. that is single most reason this game is going to fail, if the user doesn't have a sense of immersive control of the game. But i hope not, it has lot going for it and pray to almighty gaming gods they get it right and it is awesomeo!

» Well

I must say the concept is intriguing. Very interesting. Something new out there to give a go. Story telling is one thing that I'm big on since I'm reading novels with a lot of my free time. An interactive story could be really cool. I'll wait and hear more about it. But the one thing that can definately kill it for me would be short length. If its too short I won't buy it at all.

Also what NarooN said was not "unintelligible". Just derisive and probably accurate. A lot of the posters you see on Qj are stupid people. For the most part this game is going to appeal to people who like story telling. If you're the type of gamer who skips through cut scenes to get to gameplay or rushes your way through a game then this game isn't for you. You may have been pulled toward it through fanboyism or love of the pretty graphics but don't waste your time buying a game you aren't compatible with.

» EXACTLY

i myself don't delve into RTS's simply because it's not the game for me. i enjoy watching my friends play it but i just can't immerse myself into actually playing the genre, although i love only a few select titles.

and when it comes to 3rd person RPG or action/adventure, i'm all in. like Digitus said, if you can't really enjoy a game then don't bash it because not only has this game an M rating, but it relies heavily on the player's immersion to the story/plot. that being said, we now know that this game is so much restricted on the people that will truly enjoy what this game has to offer (18+ adults that enjoy storytelling, that is).

and i think this game is trying to not only broaden the spectrum of video gaming (which is awesome, since these kinds of games like Mirrors Edge are just creative and innovative, i like devs who try out lots of things and are not afraid and bravo to Sony for publishing a game that doesn't guarantee sales but has a great concept) but is trying to achieve what MGS4 had, and that is for two different forms of entertainment's (gaming and movies) differences to be near nonexistent. it's really hard to pull that off.

by NarooN - 2009-05-22 20:54
» Yes.

Both Digitus and roddollente get 2+ NarooN points each.

I mean, the game looks like one you won't really be successful in by simply "going with the flow."

Also, those new videos were pretty cool. Makes me want the game even more, actually. It's kinda funny, because I honestly don't buy many single-player games nowadays, it's either multiplayer or co-op for me. This game looks more and more promising every time I see.

Also, I don't see anything wrong with the graphics. Looks like a well-produced next-gen title to me. Or should I use current-gen since we're so far in right now.

by Seoulfood - 2009-05-23 05:55
» eh...

I'm a little underwhelmed by the graphics. They're fine and all, but they aren't the visual tour de force that they were originally touting. But these are low res, non-final product videos, so they'll probably clean things up.

by ratch3ty - 2009-05-23 07:01
» well if..

You guys want to pay 65 bucks to press buttons for a non stop cut scene... please by all means.

I'll be sticking to real video games. I hope this doesn't become the new thing everyone does now.

by Aiden636 - 2009-05-23 07:14
» hmm

I noticed on the first video (2:14-2:17) the the wheels of the equipment weren't even moving. I sure hope this isn't the final version for this section of the game... I'm not racking on the game itself, I just notice glitches. The story and gameplay look pretty well done.

by RexNox - 2009-05-23 07:17
» hmm...

Dragon's Lair 2009.

1 statement by 1person should not dictate the beliefs or actions of everyone else. everyone is an individual and should not be steriotyped because of something someone else has said or done. thats why we have a democracy over here in America so we can stay true to ourselves.

im sorry if NarroN's comment offended you. but you just offended me. so please keep the steriotyping to a minimal and i can promise you that you'll get the same from me. that seems like a pretty fair agreement would'nt you say?

by napsac41 - 2009-05-23 08:22
» Looks

Wayyyy better than indigo prophecy. i like a good story. i'm most likely going to get this.

» (Just kidding here)

Seeing as how the game has multiple stories, you WILL buy it.

by Miclowgunman - 2009-05-23 18:56
» i dont know..

it looks like the game will be interactive and then be like Dragons Lair for the combat. As long as the story is good then ill get this game though. Event if it was an interactive movie i think i would have a blast with it.

by Miclowgunman - 2009-05-23 19:01
» here's hopin'...

that the hole detective side is deep. I love a good delve into clues and putting the facts together myself. Don't tell me what it all means, let me figure it out and act on it myself.
