Regardless of what you thought of Square Enix's sophomore outing in the full length motion picture business, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, it's more than likely that you'll agree that (a) it looked gorgeous and (b) the action was absolutely out of this world. Id that's the case it'll come as good news to hear that the people behind the PS3's upcoming uber-RPG Final Fantasy XIII, are looking to Advent Children for inspiration.

Final Fantasy XIII game director Motomu Toriyama has stated that he wishes to see just how far his team will be able to push in-game battles, aiming for the sort of frenetic pace and action seen in the movie. He also went on to say that he expects to have a playable build of the game ready in time for E3 2007...yeah, I guess that means we have a looooong wait ahead of us before we're able to bring this sucker home.

Certainly exciting news, but one has to wonder how exactly Toriyama and his team are planning on reaching the frantic pace of the action in the movie with traditionally slow paced RPG combat, major changes in store perhaps? Only time will tell.

Btw: I the game teaser you can see the clock in the corner is speed up. It was some cutting in the movie to makethe fight look like it was more hectic then it really is. But i cant deny that this looks like to be a mix between the battles in FFxii and kindom hearts.

The fight between the Bahamut was very nice. All the team members participating, joining moves and stuff.

... if it has a Devil May Cry system, I would have to kill the creators of the game. Devily May Cry is by far one of the worst pieces of trash I've ever played, complete with bad gameplay, poor effects, and ridiculously bad dialogue.
I can't believe you even said that.

Personally I think some sort of modified system using Vagrant Story's combat system could work, hopefully we'll hear more soon!

they actually stated that few parts of it were CG.
but most were actual game graphics.

Cutscenes have always been really nice. If this is a cutscene movie, then I can say "great", but it's not showing anything different. If this is in-game footage, it truly is amazing, and I don't see why they can't do something like this, now. Technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, and it's only a matter of time.
The PS3 just has to run games, it doesn't have all of the bloat that personal computer OS's have. The PS3 is a screamer compared to PC's for this reason. Game's don't have to compete for resources.
I wish mac/windows would come out with a gamer OS and keep it a completely separate project. Because PC's are by far easier to upgrade than a console, it would make perfect sense to have a PC as your main gaming platform. We just need an OS that trims the fat and is optimized, specifically, for gaming. I'll retract this statement when gaming consoles make upgrading easily, a reality.

The matrix series pretty much did all that style to death a couple of years ago.
I wish they'd look at their intro to final fantasy 8, the fact that there is actual swordplay and magic use in there rather than just jumping towards each other and clanging a single blow with their swords and pout in each others faces before flying... I mean 'jumping' away up buildings and what not.
