Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIII - Image 1

Worries that Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360) will be delayed sprang up when Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced that its release could be affected by Dragon Quest IX's own delay.

Looks like worries may have been premature though. According to an interview with FFXIII's director Motomu Toriyama in the latest Famitsu mag, development is still "going favorably for a 2009 launch." When in 2009? Not specified. It really doesn't give me any comfort that Squeenix keeps talking about the release in terms of years.

Details were also given for the upcoming demo that will come with Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete. Although the demo won't be long enough for Lightning to meet with Mr. 33 cm, Snow Villers, it will be structured so that it can be played repeatedly. Unfortunately, last time I heard, the demo's still a Japanese exclusive.

Um What I think is

the 2009 release date is probabaly Japan only. Since if we assume a 6 month localization to English speaking countries the game will have to be released in Japan by June which is not really that far off from now and if it was going to be released by then I think there would have been an annoucement by now.

I hope that

Sony/Microsoft don't start forcing deadlines onto Squenix. I want this game to be as perfect as it can be when it's released and not have to wait on Patches to fix bugs they could have ironed out had they been given more time! I'd rather have a flawless game in 2010 than a glitch fest in 2009.

squeenix is performing the localisation as they are finishing with the japanese FFXIII, for a simultaneous release...
