Final Fantasy XIII sells over a million at day one

While I'm writing and you guys are reading, the Japanese are tucked comfortably in their gaming dens right now, playing Final Fantasy XIII. You're not gonna see FF fans out in streets in Japan tonight...or this weekend. According to Square Enix, over a million copies of the game were sold during its first 24 hours.

To quote the publisher's statement, the number "exceeded one million." That number doesn't include the special edition Lightning PS3 packages, but there aren't enough of those to merit a rephrase on that quote.

 

No one has to worry about shortage - Square Enix is making sure that there will be copies waiting once folks walk into the store.

Thats crazy, there are only 4m ps3 sold in japan, that means 25% of its userbase is now playing ff13..

This game better be good. I'm actually going to buy this because Versus XIII is taking forever. Plus it'll take forever downloading all 3-4 discs for the 360.

to start the game. You can download the others meanwhile you wait to finish Disc One. Me myself I am going to download Disc One only to compare to PS3 version which I will buy. Cause as a lazy American I can't stand changing discs. But also PS3 is lead console this time around. I am guessing also going to have native 1080p which I think it's not going to be on Xbox 360 since very few if not any games are native 1080p on the 360.

I've heard nothing but bad things about this one unfortunately. Apparently far more linear than any of the other games, no exploration what-so-ever. So basically you finish the game and that's it, no reason to go back and do side quests, there are none. Definitely not a buy for me, the Japs were the guinea pigs for this one.
