Final Fantasy Versus XIII characters and story now finalized

Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced back in 2006, and here we are, four years later, Square Enix reveals that the characters and the story for the game have all been finalized.

Tetsuya Nomura spoke with Dengeki Online, confirming that the storyline, the characters, and their clothing designs have all been completed. Do remember that in order to get Final Fantasy XIII off the ground, Square Enix had to redirect resources from Versus, which explains why it has been quite a long time.

As for any information about characters and the story, they're not spilling any beans just yet.

I agree. I hope it has an interesting story with great actors that actually talk about stuff that make sense and not ramble on about stupid things. I am not very happy about how some of the acting has been in recent iterations. I also hope they sync the character's mouth animation with the speech and not add senseless things to fill in the gaps just because of language translation differences. I want a serious epic adventure.

Why do the characters have fairy faces? Next they will have pointy ears, maybe a pot of gold or something.

I'd like it if they included the Japanese voice overs and just had English subtitles (and subtitles for French, German, etc when released in those countries). I don't think going back through the entire game just to make mouth movements match up to English voice overs is that easy a task. They'd have to reanimate all the complexities of human facial muscle.
