Final Fantasy 13 not officially confirmed for 2008 release |

With all the latest buzz regarding Final Fantasy 13, the idea of a 2008 release for Square Enix's upcoming PlayStation 3 RPG somehow got etched onto people's minds. While, admittedly, there's some new stuff coming out in relation to the game, it hasn't been officially confirmed as of this time that Square Enix will release the game this year.To clear matters up, Final Fantasy 13 director Motomu Toriyama said that he hopes to show fans a demo of the game this year. Toriyama also stated that more details regarding Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy Versus 13 will be released later in the year. Nothing was actually said about an official 2008 release date.
This doesn't mean, however, that Final Fantasy 13's will be released in 2009 or beyond, as Square Enix may decide to ship the finished product to fans this year. Nevertheless, until we get official word on the matter, the waiting game will continue.

hopefully, by the time FFXIII DOES ship out to us in NA... Sony would've settled it's SKUs a little... then maybe i can finally grab a PS3.
nothing as unpleasant as buying a product, only to see it phased out the week after.
Although I wish Final Fantasy XIII is going to be released this year, I understand it takes time to make an epic like none before it. With 50gigs and the power the PS3 provides, it just means more for the developers to do and that takes time. I just hope they get it right. One good thing, The Last Remnant will be out before then to help satisfy my RPG needs.

Personally, I think its a good thing that the devs are taking as long as they need to make it meet expectations. Square is known to push the genre on new consoles, they did it with FF7 in 97 and again with 10 in 2001. I actually remember the wait to get my hands on 10 because of all the delays and how long it took to release. I was not disappointed. As long as the game is anywhere close to as good as those titles I'll be happy, even if it comes out
i say let them take as long as they need... yea with 50 gigs on a bluray disk and the power of ps3 they'll definitely turn fantasy into reality... i hope they release at least a demo this year... of both games because yea i want ff13, but i want versus 13 more... i know both games will be amazing... im just wondering how the game engine will hold up.. from what i've heard square enix can make the game play with no loading times at all.. lets hope that is true... wonder what online features they'll have... i say downloadable story chapters and character skins, weapons, areas, maybe a way to play the story online with friends... and once again it'll all be possible thnx to bluray and ps3... so square, take your time... take all the time you need...
