Reggie Fils-Aime is back, and he's got more to say about the PlayStation Move. This time, he asks, "Why would people buy Move when they already have Wii?"

Speaking with Industry Gamers, the Nintendo of America president said:

So I'm a consumer and I'm having a great experience with my Wii. And we know that's the case – we look at the software that's being purchased. Consumers love the Wii. What's going to motivate them to spend minimally US$ 300 for a new [PS3] system, plus minimally US$ 100 for the Move motion bundle? So [as a consumer] now I'm into this for US$ 400 and I still have to spend money on software. What's going to motivate me to do that?

Fils-Aime has previously said that he is unconcerned with Sony's new motion controller and that Nintendo would be embarrassed if they ever did what Sony and Microsoft are doing to play catch up in the motion-controlled gaming market.

Not sure you have even seen Red Steal 2, or even played sports resort... motionplus delivers.

The main argument that fan boys use is that the Wii does not have any great games... but how many games does the PS3 have that are truely compatible with move... the system is already dated, another fews years and better systems will be released. $400s for an over prices toaster with motion control that does not even work very well (we have all seen the hilarious videos), is far too much just for a few years...

I am still reeling from from the laughter because of the fact that the PS3 (or older versions at least) could not even cope with a leap year.... haha, oh the suckers who brought one for $500 or more must have been well hacked off if they lost data, talk about crap... my 1996 Matshui VHS even recognized the leap year

They lost trophies which are all saved on both the PS3 and server online. Once the problem was resolved and you got online, your trophies updated and are back on your account.

At that time it was only the games with trophies that couldn't be played if you ever got online. From what I've heard, people who have never gotten online with the system were still able to play their games fine.

Also. The problem was resolved quickly. I wasn't able to play a game on the system for what, less than a day? Fine by me.

And the main argument about the Wii doesn't have any great games is actually a good argument. Now, every system has atleast one good game, and the Wii does fare better than quite a few classic console systems, however, even Nintendo's last outing, the Gamecube, has more good games than the Wii has.

You also can't really count Virtual Console titles. Those are nothing more than emulated games from other systems. They don't count for the Wii's actual game line up.

Anyways. Reggie knows the Playstation Move is a superior version of the Wiimote and as any PR would do, acts as a douchebag trying to downplay the PS3 and 360 because that's his job. Make sure his company's system stays on top, which it will, atleast in sales(because the games sure do suck.)

For those 33 million people that already have a PS3. You don't need to pay for the entire system, just the Move.

There was still a problem with the PS3... do not try to say that it was fixed quickly because it should not have been there in the first place. That is a sign of crapness, like I said my old VCR not only coped with the year 2000, but is still going.

The wii has more sales than the PS3 and xbox360 combined, so it's not switching to ps3, it's expanding your hardware and game collection. Buying a PS3 does not remove your ability to play Wii.

First off, my situation doesn't apply to everyone.
My family has all 3 console types.
I didn't buy the Wii for my daughter BECAUSE it had motion control. I got it because she wanted to play Zelda, Metroid, and Super Smash Brothers.
She doesn't like it for the motion control, but for the games only for nintendo. The motion controller actually pisses her off sometimes.
I bought the Xbox 360 for my son because he wanted to play Halo 3, Fable 2, and the Mass Effects.
I bought the PS3 because I wanted a Bluray player, and to play Infamous, Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, and MGS4.

It was the exclusivity of the games that drove the console purchase in my household, not the peripherals.

The only way I'd buy into Natal, or PS Move is if a AAA title requires it. Not just the novelty of it. I just hope they don't do this.

Just like I'm tired of seeing Reggie (DK-Mode) Fils-Aime's face, I'm also kinda tired of the Wii's graphics. The Move and Natal both appear to have the potential of providing a better gaming experience than the Wii. If Nintendo is truly not developing a Wii-HD, or at least a true HD system, then they're going to be taking huge hits in the next couple years while Sony and MS eat up their market share.

I'm an adult. I already own a PS3/Xbox because I want to play games aimed at my age group and play online, and I'm having a "great experience". I can spend $100 to obtain the Wii's only real selling point outside Mario/Zelda or I can buy a Wii for $200+

Then I have to buy motionplus because you tidied up your flawed technology then charged me $25 per controller for the priveledge.

Now I'm in this for $250 and I still have to buy software mostly aimed at kids - what's going to motivate me to do that?

If Reggie's vision is so utterly blinkered he ought to shut up before Nintendo wise up and sack him. Incidentally I own a Wii, and the only games I've played on it in the last 6 months have been Ghost Squad and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

personally i find i am wasting my time connecting the ps3/360 to the net for online play because of people who are overly competive makes the experince frustrating or in games where they just mess around causing trouble. but then agian mario kart has some of the wildest fans aswell which you cant kick out of the game

at least for once i didnt see Cammie Dunaway talk about a product instead they choose the vp Denise Kaigler to talk about gold/silver remakes

Everyone who went to GDC said the controller is an improvement upon the wiimote. Combine better technology with a better game library and you have... the Move. Games like Socom 4 are already supporting it. A sign that even the most hardcore games(Socom is VERY hardcore)can support the controller, quickly. What games have you played on your wii recently? Everyone I've talked to says their wii collects dust, as does mine. All the Nintendo morons boast about is how much money they've made, and how much money their shitty wii resort and Mario games have made. Guess what Reggie, money doesn't equal a successful console. Great games make a great console. Something the wii majorly lacks in. I guarantee, that even though the wii has sold like crack, it's easily the least played console, ever. No more heroes, mad world, zelda, metroid, and mario can only last so long before you're wanting god of war, heavy rain, halo, ratchet and clank, infamous, gears of war, resistance, killzone 2, bioshock, fallout 3, oblivion, metal gear solid 4, grand theft auto 4, devil may cry 4, and so on.

^ exactly. PS Move is more precise than the Wiimote. Unlike the PS Move, the Wiimote needs Wii plus just to be more precise, the PS Move does everything the Wiimote can but better. Get over it. Not to mention, the PS3 has blu-ray, the Wii doens't even have HD, also the PS3 will be getting 3D. 3D + HD + PS Move = instant win.

Now if people are gonna be honest here how often do you think you'll actually use the Move? You limited by being stuck at a fixed point in front of tv and the Ps3 will never have the family and party oriented games the Wii has, i mean it can't even do full 4 player motion control games, so i can almost guarantee developers will have a go throwing mini games in with proper games and some full motion control games but knowing Sony the Move will never be cheap so there's a limited user base, game development will fade and most Moves will just be thrown in a box with all your guitar hero type peripherals and dug out every other month to show off to one of your mates.

ModNation Racers is superior to mario kart if they fix the issues from the betas i was in. and lets face it sbb losses intrest faster then the old games. and i love sb, i dont loss and wont because no1 is really good on wii because who would play hardcore on games with 6 year olds lol. i'll be on my cash hunting spree tryina buy those ps3 games from last year and this year i missed out on because i didnt have the money to buy a great game every week lol ps we got a modern take on classic zelda and u cant do nothing about it lol :)

No-one would ever question the technical ability of the Ps3 to outdo the Wii, the problem is that the Ps3 has a more adult userbase and i really can't see many of them really wanting a expensive dedicated motion controller that they have to pull out seperate from their main controller, if Sony just did a exact copy of the Wiimote they'd have more chance of success because it has the d-pad and buttons and of course motion sensors in nunchuck and they could port over and improve Wii games, the simple fact is the design is flawed and unless Sony gave them free with the Ps3 it's just something most people won't bother with, and when people don't buy the controller the developers don't make the games.

Ps3 could keep all the family happy, because it has blu-ray for the dad to test out his hdtv, it has hardcore games for proper gamers, it has all the guitar and singstar, and creative/cute stuff for girls, you can play videos photos and music files on it, now it's getting 3D glasses and motion control for even more stuff to do on it. I think the wii market is totally saturated now, and ps3 is going to ambush the market and enter mainstream (OMG!)

Because almost no hardcore gamers bought a wii? I have an xbox 360 and a PS3. And I find it pretty funny that the so called "wii-60" everyone wanted back then is now actually a PS3wMotion, lol. I think this will sell like crazy, for hardcore games like shooters and RTS. An easy gift for the parents around christmas lol. "What should I buy Mr. Gamestop? I bearly play the wii my wife & son do. I mostly use my PS3 and I'm not looking foward to PS move but I'll probly get it just for EyePet and mod-nation racers maybe.

Why not? In order to use Move, youll need a PS3. and if they go out of their way to buy a PS3 for move, then they'll be privy to all the great software that doesnt use move as well. Id rather own a PS3 and have a vast catalogue of good software to play, motion controlled AND not, than a wii with a handful of decent games, none of which, apart from resi 4 and metroid prime trilogy are any good with wii motion control.

The reason I'm commenting is that alot of REAL gamers at times DO end up payin alot for their habit and aside from obious differences between th consoles The Smash Bros Entertainment System is the best electronic doorstop I ever bought. I know shinanagans when I see it, Where was nintendo th last Decade before Wii? trailing Miles behind its competition. The Game Cube almost had the plug pulled on it in its 3rd year Hell it even took a Year and a half for XBOX to give ut a wollop. See my comment above...

all wii games except platformers suck ass. I hate so much using that shitty wii mote. the analog stick reminds me of the nintendo 64 analog stick which always got stuck and was not smooth moving it around. It's really awkward holding the long controller even though they could have made it shorter. Really stupid shit. plus u always got to point near the IR sensor to get that shit wiimote to work. I played new super marios on Wii and so many times the controls would be unresponsive. It just makes slow paced games even slower.

Ps3 has like 3 titles i would actually but...i got a 360 and wii all nice and hacked...ps3 hack coming soon..maybe then i'll get one..doubtful...graphics 360/ps3 not that dis-similar..these new device just a ploy to try get more sales cause ps3 is lacking alot of titles..wii is a great rom system for older titles..ie mario and old sega games emulated as well as new titles..who cares about blue ray...to expensive yet ..blueray burners are 200 a pop and disks run you anywhere from 2-7 bucks a piece...even if i bought systesm this device is a waste of time and it looks like it was made for a lonly woman...lol...get down with your ps3..what a joke..

Ps3 and Wii have both great games.One are more apropriate to one kind of people and others for other kind of people.
But i can still compare some things.Ps3 move is almost the exact idea as the wiimote."But is so much better",you have just seen some cr*p commercials to make beautiful to make people think that but have you tried it?
The competion is big.But why ps3 can`t stay with the normal remote and wii with the wiimote?Because they think the nintendo had a good idea of making this type of console so they think rip off the idea would make some profits at the beginning but at end ps3 fans will need to admit and say:"The games for ps3 move are even worst than the ones for wii".
If we think about it, the wii specializes in this type of games and the ps3 no.The ps3 move will s*cks and everyone who buy it i will just waste money because they don`t anything better to spend in.
