5th VES AwardsAs the CES 2007 warms up in Las Vegas, the Visual Effects Society has announced their nominees for their Fifth Annual Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards. Among the nominees are the Ubisoft Montreal-developed game for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Assassin's Creed. The game, specifically its X06 trailer, was able to rack up two nominations - Outstanding Real Time Visuals in a Video Game and Outstanding Pre-rendered Visuals in a Video Game. Jade Raymond, Nicolas Cantin, Raphael Lacoste, Christophe Martin, Thomas Giroux, and Anne Mai Le Bouyonnec were named as potential recipients of the award.

Assassin's Creed isn't the only game blessed with nominations. Its sole competition in the Outstanding Real Time Visuals award is the PS3 title from Electronic Arts,Fight Night Round 3. In the Pre-rendered Visuals category, Assassin's will go head-to-head with the E3 2006 trailers of Hellgate: London and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.

To the nominees, congratulations and good luck! The VES Awards will be handed out on February 11 at the Kodak Grand Ballroom in Hollywood. the 360 version of FNR3 has better graphics (go look at comparisons). and from screenshots, Hellgate:London really doesn't have very good visuals. these people don't know anything

just noticed Hellgate is in the prerendered catagory. but still, what's so amazing about pre-rendered stuff? anyone can do that. if it looks like crap in-game (which screenshots of Hellgate:London dated Dcember 8th 2006 do) who cares? I still say these people know nothing

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. The fighters, especially their skin, looks simply amazing on Ps3 compared to 360. I've played both on the same tv and most of my friends, even the die-hard xbox ones agreed. Those comparisons your'e talking about, Gamespots I assume, are total crap. All those games were ported from the 360 to the PS3. Besides Fight Night where the studio that ported it actually spent a little time on making the fighters look better, have you ever seen any ported game look better on the system it was ported to compared to the one it was built for? I think not. Its like the whole Gears compared to Resistance thing. Yeah lets take a launch tilte and compare it directly to a second gen AAA title thats been in the works for years. The real comparison should be Resistance vs. Perfect Dark Zero in which case we all know which game would win hands down. I still think Resistance is better that Gears though simply because the multiplayer is absouletly outstanding and the single player is three times as long.
