Homer-thumb - Image 1Hard to believe that three years on, news and information about Final Fantasy XIII is still ridiculously hard to come by. Square Enix seems to be content with drip feeding its legions of fans, teasing and tantalising. It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt, right?

On Final Fantasy XIII:
  • The FFXIII demo will be from the opening part of the game, and will be longer than FFVIIAC (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children). *Note, Advent Children was 101 minutes long, that's one beefy demo!*
  • FFXIII will definitely have a party battle system where you control each character as they switch turns, like in a normal Final Fantasy. It will not be like FFXII.
  • FFXIII's story is being written such that every single one of the main characters will feel like protagonists instead of just supporting characters.

On Final Fantasy Versus XIII:

  • The world in Versus XIII worships a Shinigami (a Japanese death god) and the Shinigami is designed by acclaimed Japanese illustrator, Yoshitaka Amano.
  • The cars and clothing seen in the trailers so far will probably change in design for the final game
  • The name of the prince and the heroine in Versus XIII will be revealed at TGS.

Sounds good to me, let's just cross our fingers and hope Square Enix gives us a a few morsels to tide us over till TGS.

Many thanks to duckroll of the NeoGAF forums for the translation.

PS. It still feels weird to tag this news under "Xbox 360" as well.

And what does Homer Simpson have to do with FFXIII, nothing i tellls you, so why the pic of my God on FFXIII article.

Apart from that thoughs, FFXIII is gonna be sweet and hopefully as big as FFVII if not even bigger.

Because homer is drooling,

In other words, he is drooling over the pretty good information on FFXIII

Even a child could figure that out...

"On Final Fantasy Versus XII:"

VS 12 eh?

by DNAgent - 2008-08-17 03:32
» Really?

I know why he would be drooling but why over ff13? The game looks horrible. The environment looks ugly and the characters look dull (judging from the trailer anyways). There hasn't even been a good final fantasy since the PS1 so i'm sure ff13 will end up being garbage too. Square-Enix just doesn't know how to make a good final fantasy game.

» i was hopeing

they were gonna make it like final fantasy 7 crisis core on psp were it's half rpg and half slowed down god of war im not so sure about 13 ill have to watch noobtoob first

» Yeah

After 12 Final Fantasies, I think I'll finally leave the franchise.

FFX was my favorite, and I only have FFX, X-2, and XII. I only really liked X and X2. Never saw what was so special about anything else.

And that will probably be the biggest demo ever made. The new story direction seems really cool too. This seems like it will be a very long game.

» Not sure I'll buy the demo (30$ for a demo...)

Unless it's around 20$ (with the movie of course).

For the news, it's GREAT! I liked the FF12 system but it lacked strategy. Also, we didn't really controlled our characters, too much auto-stuff (even me boss battles could use my auto-stuff programmed). It's a big and cool news. The only let-down is the x360 version, but wathever, it's gonna be a super great game!

Crisis core I guess is geared toward an action RPG? I guess you'll like Final Fantasy Vs XIII if thats the case. I personally like FF Vs XIII better just because its an action RPG (and I like the settings where all of the stuff is taking place). I really don't like the old turn based system.

» No kiddin

that's one kickass demo

» Good news

"FFXIII will definitely have a party battle system where you control each character as they switch turns, like in a normal Final Fantasy. It will not be like FFXII."

Good news. XII was terrible, glad to know XIII won't play like it.

by your_fire - 2008-08-17 16:56
» your right!

this is the best news ever...XII was horrible even the story was boring

by sickofitall - 2008-08-18 01:42
» OMG!! 2 hour demo!!

That is crazy. I do hope most of this isn't just wandering around FF style.

by ISOHaven - 2008-08-18 05:37
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

I "sort of" agree. VII was "ok". I don't understand why people go ape shlt for it. The FMV's were good but the polygon CRAP graphics in it were horrible.

What sucks even more if the movie and demo aren't going to be releaed until MARCH!!!

WTF!?!?!?!?! That's what another site reported. Damn, that's so long away :( :( :(

by NemesisDTP - 2008-08-18 12:08
» damn...

Sounds like a 3 or more Disc game....

by NemesisDTP - 2008-08-18 12:10
» Let down?

Why is the 360 version a let down?

I find it awesome i can play the game without having to buy or borrow a PS3

Cant wait until its release!! +D

by NemesisDTP - 2008-08-18 12:13
» The reason

Is that FF VII had one of the best story lines in gaming history!

I still love playing the game today!

Remember back then hose where top of the like graphics

by ISOHaven - 2008-08-19 04:41
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

"Remember back then hose where top of the like graphics"

No, they weren't. Maybe on the playstation but not on the PC. The graphics where sub-par. As for the story, well, there you have it. I had just gotten done playing a game with a far better story line. Which is obviously opinion.

I've enjoyed other FF's more then 7. I'm still playing through 12... can't seem to pick it up and just finish it. I get bored with it too easy.

by jmak0 - 2008-08-24 03:49
» the demo

will be the deciding factor on whether i purchase this or not. i might not even buy AC tho. hope one comes out on psn, but over 101 minutes the demo might not be downloadable size. I am also thinking of not bothering with this franchise anymore, there are too many games that are more fun to play, i kind of got bored of turn based after ff10 sphere grid overkill it just takes too long to level up to be invincible, which is when these games become more fun imho.
