"Snow, do these subtitles make me look fat?"
The latest issue of Famitsu in Japan has an interview with Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360) director Motomu Toriyama.
In the interview, Toriyama reveals that they're just about done. All elements of the game are pretty much complete, and right now, "it's a matter of putting them together." Before the final version of the game though, they still plan to revise the battle system a bit more and inch it closer to pure, marinated perfection.
Meanwhile, the current build that they're testing with is running at 720p and clocked at 30fps. Fair enough, fair enough. What Square Enix wants is to allow gamers to enjoy the game no matter what TV they have - that means tweaking the text to be readable on a standard analog TV. Umm, right, we don't want a Tiny Text redux of Banjo Kazooie, now do we?
Then there's also the matter of cut scenes. Though it's not surprising considering how the past few Square Enix games have been, it's now confirmed that cut scenes can be paused and/or skipped.
If you were wondering about the demo that's to be released later this month via the FF7ACC Blu-ray, Famitsu reports that it's going to clock about an hour and a half of gameplay.

Take in point Killzone2, running natively in 1080i because native 1080p is VERY demanding on the hardware - which most devs opt out of to get better performance in terms of FPS and effects within the game world.
Finally, 720p looks great! You'd be hard pressed to notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p. There's no need to flip out over nothing.

Who cares if one game has 5 to 12 discs. are you too fraking lazy to get off your fraking ass and switch disc.
Remember when the FF7 had 4 discs?

I have a viewsonic vx2260wm, which is full 1080p....it's only 22 inches and I will tell you, 1080p games look much better than 720p ones....
It all depends on viewing distance really...with a 22 inch screen at 1080p you have to sit very close, on a 60inch tv...you sit far away....
So ya, 1080p is always preferred....rarely going to get it with any game that has a crazy amount of detail....still not sure how MGS4 pulled it off.

Also, that is where size comes in. It depends if a game is native 720p (built with 720p textures) and being scaled up....or if it's native 1080p....and gets scaled down if you are in 720p....
Also, ya, 90% of 360 games say they are 1080p, because of the hardware scaler....but they are definately not native 1080p. Halo 3 basically confirms this as it was found out to be 640p or something around there, yet the box says 1080p.....

when you first turn it on it will probably ask for a light, medium or heavy install depending on your HDD space with heavy install meaning only need disc 1 to start the game then the rest is on HDD.

what resolution is your PC running at right now guys? 1024*768? 1600*1200? 800*600? check it out. what ever it is, right now you are downloading/viewing exactly the SAME images and videos as EVERYONE else online, but it is scaled to the resolution of YOUR screen. someone running their PC at only 800*600 res is not downloading less data than you if you're running at 1600*1200, and you would laugh if someone told you that. the data is exactly the same, it's only the screen res that's different.
take any PC game and you can run it at any resolution your PC can take. again, the game size doesn't magically grow or shrink on your hd because of the resolution, the textures are exactly the same, but the framerate would drop as the screen res increases or you add fillrate demanding features like anti-aliasing.
so like on the pc, it's limited by the gpu power and ram available. 1080p has over twice as many pixels as 720p, so 1080p needs twice the gpu pixel power compared to 720p. if the ps3 was able to run FF at 1080p, then it would do so! but we know it can't because it can only manage 30fps at 720p. if it was 60fps, then it may have been possible to run the game at 1080p and 30fps.

i have found that its disc one with all the signatures and anti piracy (especially pc. get the doom3 pack with 3 CDs and backup disc 2 and 3, you'll see what i mean)
you should be able to back up all discs except for disc 1 (which makes sure the whole game isnt pirated.
and to shatterdome.
"what if one of the discs gets ****ed up"
if you install it on your HDD you only need it once, what are you doing with your discs when they are not in use that would f*** them?

one disc is preferable, but multi-disc games have been around for many years. it's not a problem, just less convenient. :)

I llove Final Fantasy games but there seems to be no solid ground 2 as how this game will stand, they can sound dam serious for one day and the next totally make up their minds and do something else
the more and more they do this.........the more and more this game seems 2 become like a dream, a hungry attention seeking dream. It just keeps poking at you but it will never give you something 2 hold on 2.
