Feels like a full year: Waiting for MGS 4 |

Ó
Even when we have already entered the year 2007, it sure seems like there's much waiting to be done for Konami's highly-anticipated sure-fire blockbuster PS3 title, MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots. In fact, it's like waiting for another full year as its release won't happen 'til later this fourth quarter.
But nonetheless, that shouldn't keep us from having a closer look at what Snake will be up to in this production. That's why we have these new bunch of screenies to keep you posted in on the action. Yeah, so the images may appear grainy. Dusty, even. Hello! Yer in the battlefield. If you want to get the feel of the real thing, you gotta work it. And that's just what Kojima and company did.
So, quit your moping and enjoy these screenshots while they're hot. But if you want more, we guarantee there'll be loads more of fresh batches to come.

If you ever made an Xbox 360 version, would you find it difficult to work with because it uses a standard DVD?
Kojima: It%u2019s not necessarily challenging or difficult, it%u2019s just a matter of how we do it. It might be a couple of discs, or possibly a new form of dual-layer.

No Mgs and so 360 owners are screwed ? I think you will find that Gears, rainbow 6 Vegas,Ghost recon etc are all just as good as this game in fact I am wondering why on a next gen console it seems to have hardly any color?.

Seriously though, what one of those screen would you say makes this game look amazing?.All I see is your average screenshots with very little color.

1000 times better than gears ? lol you havent even seen or played this game !! and the game designer Hideo Kojima said himself -
I%u2019m a fan of Gears of War as well, it%u2019s very interesting .
So it may be a lot more like Gears than you think.
Those screenshots ! if this was on the 360 or PC would you say there is anything there that any of the other 2 machines cannot do ?.they are plain and look washed out in the color department,I hope it is as good as you want it to be and dosent just turn out to be a few good sections with a very large amount of fmv.

Anyway, how many DVD's would you need for MGS4 to come to the 360? Loads.

Did you see the demontration where he stopped the video, changed a hell of a lot of things, panned cammeras, and moved snake around? Obviously not, you freaking XBot.

I bet these are all off the dev kit aswell. I agree that these look nothing like the real time gameplay videos that have been released. I hope it looks like these screens, but i really doubt that this is nothing more than PR and damage control.

1. Redundant files to make up for the slower blu ray speed.
2. "Lossless" surround sound that very very few have the equipment or hearing to notice any difference whatsoever.
3. 2 resolutions of HD video (due to the lack of a scaler chip) which could be replaced with in game rendered cutscenes which would look just as good.
No wonder Hideo said blu ray doesn't have enough space.
Gears of War is 6GB when DVD9 can hold 9GB. Still room left if you're not wasteful!

And splitting up non linear games on multi discs is never easy to do.
1.) Blu-Ray has a constant disc read speed, which usuaslly outperforms DVD's because of DVD's slower read speed in the inner layers.
2.) Its not really clear exactly what Hideo intends to do with all that space, but HD sound is likely one of those things. But knowing Hideo, I don't think it's as simple as wanting better quality. He prbably wants to make some of it a gameplay aspect somehow. Like how he used the rumble feature to tell peoples heartbeats, I won't be surprised if he'll use sound for something impressive like that.

The transfer speed of the DVD drive in the 360 ranges from 8MB/s on the inner track to 16MB/s on the outer. Blu-ray is a constant 9MB/s. So PS3's Blu-ray is only slightly faster than the 360's DVD drive at it's slowest speed. Not only that, devs put the data they want to be read fastest on the outer tracks on DVD, so DVD on the 360 performs much better than Blu-ray on the PS3. That's why you have the option to put data onto the HDD to speed up load times on the PS3.

And yea not my fault *****box360 has been like 1.5 years more than ps3 , yea that means more development for it , and i highly doubt MGS4 is the best out of PS3 , i mean guys , look at Killzone on the PS3 , compare it to any Release title...do they look alike , compare any Ps2 , Xbox , GC game to their launch titles do you notice anything? , thats the only reason xbox 360 "Seems" superior , just give it more time , and the PS3 shall "PAWNSZ0rdSOMFGW TFHAXBBQ" the 360.
Lol i love how you need to buy the attachment to play a DVD that is not more than blu ray single layer...even tough HD DVD is like..Dual layer?

You should look in the mirror.
"...look at Killzone on the PS3"
Why are you comparing Killzone to anything? Killzone at E3 2005 was a pre-rendered movie, so of course nothing released looks like it. Come back when you have some realtime Killzone screenshots and videos.
"Lol i love how you need to buy the attachment to play a DVD that is not more than blu ray single layer...even tough HD DVD is like..Dual layer?"
Which proves either a) you are as dumb as you seem, or b) you're very young and therefore your ignorance can be excused to some extent.

erm... no. all the best xbox shooters (halo, gears of war, call of duty) have to offer is plenty of guns, plenty of ammo, and plenty of things to shoot at, which at the same time, metal gear also offers, if you want it (but only on the easiest settings...).
so you cant say MGS4 is going to be crap, especially not solely on the basis of a few pre-pre-prerelease screenshots. give it a chance, you might be right and it might be like MGS2 all over again, but i severely doubt that.
