PlayStation 3 - Image 1We've got an update for all you folks out there keeping tabs on Sony PlayStation 3 SKUs. PC World has reported that Sony has had a new version of the console approved last week.

The model name is CECHL01, but no further details were listed in as Sony was granted short-term confidentiality by the FCC. Most people expect this to be the 80GB PS3 announced earlier in E3 2008.

The popular belief is that the 80GB PS3 is making a comeback to complement the arrival of the PSN video download service. Word as to when this new SKU will arrive in store shelves has been scant, so we'll have to keep you posted on that one.
